Our good friends Pete “TitansCreed” Nethercote and Andy “TheBritishAndy” Wilson will be running another Sonic charity stream this year.
Last year they managed to raise over £600 for Special Effect over the course of 10 hours playing the Classic set of Sonic games. This year they’re aiming for a minimum of £700, but they will be streaming over two days with more of a focus on the modern Sonic titles.
Day 1 will consist of the following games:
Sonic Adventure DX
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Generations
Day 2 will consist of the following games:
Sonic Lost World
Sonic Mania
Sonic Forces
Check out the trailer for Race for Good 2: Adventure Battle DX by clicking below:
The race will be hosted on both twitch.tv/projectphoenixproductions & twitch.tv/thebritishandy on June 22nd and June 23rd. It will begin at 8am BST/3am EDT/12am PDT. We wish both TitansCreed and TheBritishAndy all the best during their stream! As soon as a donation page is available we will update this story so you can donate to their cause.
It is our pleasure to introduce you to a guest feature written by our good friend Pete “TitansCreed” Nethercote!
In this feature, TitansCreed takes a casual look at the Modern Sonic games that are available on Steam, and what it’s like to stream them. If you’re a PC owner and a streamer then this is an interesting little article that might help you prioritise which Sonic games are worthy of you and your audience’s time.

Hello everyone! This year we thought we’d mark the end of the year a little differently so we’ve made a video that chronicles SEGA’s releases throughout the year. Take a look at our Year in Review video by clicking the embed below:
Thank you to everyone who has continued to read the website and check out our YouTube videos this year. Your support has always been fantastic and we can’t wait to show you what we have in store for next year.
If the surprise announcement that Sonic Lost World was finding its way to PC wasn’t exciting enough then you’ll be pleased to know that SEGA are also planning to release more of their games on PC “in the coming months and years”.
John Clark, VP of Commercial Publishing for SEGA Europe has said, “This is the latest in a string of high quality PC ports of past SEGA titles that we will be building on in the coming months and years.” SEGA seems to have its sights set on expanding its business in the PC gaming category which makes sense when you remember that the PC release of Valkyria Chronicles became a bit of a surprise hit for SEGA.
There is currently no word on what games will be making their way to PC but hopefully it means more of SEGA’s console exclusives like Resonance of Fate, Sonic Colours and Vanquish get a wider release.
All of a sudden, Sonic Lost World is no longer a Wii U exclusive and is now on its way to PC!
Sonic Team’s latest Sonic outing can now be pre-ordered on Steam for £19.99 and you also get a free copy of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (this will only be available during pre-order). The game officially launches on November 2nd.
This is great news for PC Sonic fans as SEGA’s PC ports are generally very well handled and in the case of Sonic Generations, they also open up wonderful modding opportunities.
We don’t normally talk figures on SEGADriven because it can be a bit dull, but SEGA have published their financial results for the year ending March 31st 2014 and it does make for some interesting reading.
Here’s SEGA’s top sellers from the past year:
1) Total War: Rome 2 – 1.13 million copies sold
2) Football Manager 2014 – 790,000 copies sold
3) Sonic Lost World – 710,000 copies sold
4) Company of Heroes 2 – 680,000 copies sold
5) Ryu ga gotoku Ishin! – 390,000 copies sold
SEGA’s profit was 30.7 billion yen (178 million pounds) for the financial year. This profit was down 8.2% on last year.
SEGA have also confirmed a continued focus on digital with further support for Phantasy Star Online 2 (get on that Western release guys!) as well as casual gaming for mobile devices.
In scenes that would make my 6 year old self vomit copiously in pure shock, Sonic Lost World has received a DLC stage themed around Yoshi’s Island. It’s available on the Wii-U eShop now and it’s a free download. Check out the announcement trailer below:
In today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast, Satoru Iwata also said the following:
“Fans will be able to ‘Link’ their Wii U systems to the Nintendo E-Shop early next year to download this DLC as well.”
Many fans are taking this hint as a confirmation of Zelda-themed DLC for Sonic Lost World in the new year. All this SEGA/Nintendo collaborative DLC is making my head hurt!
Today on our YouTube Channel we take a look at Sonic Lost World for Wii-U and 3DS. I am joined by our good friend Titanscreed from Project Phoenix Productions and we take 10 minutes to share our thoughts on the game:
