The Sonic Lost World PC Port is the First in a String of New SEGA PC Ports

Wednesday, October 7th, 2015

If the surprise announcement that Sonic Lost World was finding its way to PC wasn’t exciting enough then you’ll be pleased to know that SEGA are also planning to release more of their games on PC “in the coming months and years”.

John Clark, VP of Commercial Publishing for SEGA Europe has said, “This is the latest in a string of high quality PC ports of past SEGA titles that we will be building on in the coming months and years.” SEGA seems to have its sights set on expanding its business in the PC gaming category which makes sense when you remember that the PC release of Valkyria Chronicles became a bit of a surprise hit for SEGA.

There is currently no word on what games will be making their way to PC but hopefully it means more of SEGA’s console exclusives like Resonance of Fate, Sonic Colours and Vanquish get a wider release.

Video Spotlight: Shay Deconstructs the Sonic Franchise

Saturday, January 24th, 2015

shaysays

I’d like to draw your attention to the latest episode of Shay Says. If you’re unfamiliar with the series then it’s a documentary-style video games show that deconstructs certain games of gaming franchises in a similar way to Egoraptor’s Sequelitis.

For the latest episode, Shay is taking a detailed look at the gameplay mechanics of the Sonic franchise (and when I say detailed, I mean detailed). 2 more episodes will follow that look at other aspects of the franchise.

While I wouldn’t normally recommend watching an almost feature length video about a games franchise, Shay has some incredibly interesting things to say about what works and what doesn’t regarding Sonic gameplay mechanics. He’s also one of the few people I’ve seen actively suggest alternative mechanics that might just improve the experience.

If you have the time then please take a look at the below video because it’s an extremely well made and unbiased look at what makes the Sonic franchise work so well and what doesn’t.

Video Spotlight: Sonic Lost World Debut Trailer

Tuesday, May 28th, 2013

The first trailer for Sonic: Lost World on Wii-U has been revealed and it looks like a beautiful mix of Sonic Xtreme in Sonic Colours! Check it out below:

Also revealed is the first screenshot of the 3DS version which you can see in the image above. It looks like another side-scroller in a similar style to Generations, but there’s plenty of room for this to still surprise us just like the Wii-U version.

Sonic Colours Soundtrack Being Released on Western iTunes

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Now here’s a welcome first for SEGA! The Sonic Colours soundtrack ‘Vivid Sound x Hybrid Colors’ is to be released on iTunes in North America and Europe! Game soundtracks are becoming more and more difficult to find on Western shores so the digital distribution of the Sonic Colours soundtrack is a welcome alternative.

Here’s the pricing for both North America and UK:

Individual tracks: $1.29 / £0.99
Per Disc: $9.99 / £7.99

That’s a massive saving on importing and you don’t have to risk getting a massive custom’s charge (I got stuck with an additional £20 on top of the original £40 order; ouch!).
