Huffington Post Uncover More Truth to Michael Jackson Music Being in Sonic 3

Monday, January 25th, 2016

The Huffington Post have published a fascinating new article that uncovers more evidence that Michael Jackson did work on the soundtrack to Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

While claims and rumours that Jackson worked on the soundtrack have circulated for years, confirmation that the artist worked on the game has always been a bit flaky. Various sources have gone on record to say Jackson did work on the game, but nobody has ever managed to confirm exactly what songs Jackson had a hand in.

While this new article still doesn’t confirm exactly what songs contain Jackson’s direct influence, it does contain new interviews with the game’s credited composers that catagorically confirm Jackson’s involvement and the recording process. It’s a brilliant read that we highly recommend you check out. You can do so by clicking here.

SEGA 3D Classics Collection Announced for 3DS

Thursday, January 21st, 2016

sega3dclassicscollection

In a rather surprising turn of events, SEGA have committed to bringing the 3DS compilation title SEGA 3D Reprint Archives 2 to the West under the new name of SEGA 3D Classics Collection.

The collection bundles together the previously released M2 versions of 3D Sonic The Hedgehog, 3D Galaxy Force II, 3D Thunderblade, 3D Altered Beast, 3D Fantasy Zone II but with 2 exclusive ports of 3D Power Drift and 3D Puyo Puyo 2. Also included are two 3D Master System titles; Maze Walker and Fantasy Zone II.

Also confirmed are new SEGA 3DS themes. While no specifics are currently available outside a “coming soon” release date, we can assume that the Dreamcast console theme could well be one of them as SEGA have previously teased the release of that theme.

SEGA 3D Classics Collection launches on the 26th of April in America, exclusively for 3DS. There is currently no word on a European release.

Merchandise: New Releases Added to Our SEGA Music Index and Further Updates

Tuesday, January 5th, 2016

pulse01

Our SEGA Music Index continues to receive more updates!

Existing entries in the index now have a much tidier look that puts the artwork front and center and any additional images are now linked via image thumbnails at the bottom. Just makes the entries a little easier to navigate.

The big update comes with 5 new entries to the index. These come in the form of the recent Data Discs vinyl releases of Streets of Rage, Shenmue, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master and Super Hang-On. Each release has its own separate entry with artwork and details about the release we thought were striking.

The final addition comes in the form of a Pulseman remix LP that was recently given to us by a good friend. This is quite a peculiar release as it was distributed in the UK despite the game never making it out of Japan.

Unreleased Amiga Sonic Clone ‘Blaze’ Finally Released

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015

blaze

In 1993 a man called Keith Bugeja was working a new platformer for the Amiga called Blaze. The game was to be published by Warp Software but development was stopped for unknown reasons. Well, I say, “unknown” but when you look at how close the action is to the original Sonic the Hedgehog, you’ll soon come to your own conclusions.

Check out Blaze in action via the embed below:

The only existing build of Blaze has now been dumped and is available to download from Bugeja’s personal blog.
