As a part of our Sonic Month celebrations with Project Phoenix Productions, we have two very special desktop wallpapers available to download. Drawn by our good friend Ciara “Nemain” Thrush, these 2 wallpapers showcase scenes from Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 and can be downloaded below:

The celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Sonic the Hedgehog title, myself and Project Phoenix Productions are running a special month of Sonic-related videos and let’s plays on our respective YouTube channels.
Our channel will be hosting a Sonic Adventure let’s play while Project Phoenix Proudctions will be hosting a Sonic Adventure 2 let’s play (starting soon). We are joined by various members of the Sonic community for both and we’ve also got a roundtable discussion video live where myself, Titanscreed, The Gatestormer and Dreadknux discuss what the Sonic franchise means to us. Check below for the first videos to be available in Sonic Month:
I’d like to draw your attention to the latest episode of Shay Says. If you’re unfamiliar with the series then it’s a documentary-style video games show that deconstructs certain games of gaming franchises in a similar way to Egoraptor’s Sequelitis.
For the latest episode, Shay is taking a detailed look at the gameplay mechanics of the Sonic franchise (and when I say detailed, I mean detailed). 2 more episodes will follow that look at other aspects of the franchise.
While I wouldn’t normally recommend watching an almost feature length video about a games franchise, Shay has some incredibly interesting things to say about what works and what doesn’t regarding Sonic gameplay mechanics. He’s also one of the few people I’ve seen actively suggest alternative mechanics that might just improve the experience.
If you have the time then please take a look at the below video because it’s an extremely well made and unbiased look at what makes the Sonic franchise work so well and what doesn’t.
YouTube user HypotheDragon has recreated a cut-scene from Sonic Adventure using the Source Filmmaker. The stunning short shows off the enhanced graphics that the Filmmaker can achieve as well as super-fluid animation. Check it out:
It’s snowing and London and the Internet is throwing a wobbler! However, we think snow is pretty awesome so we thought we’d celebrate with a bumper edition of SEGA Tunes featuring loads of themes from different snow stages in the Sonic series! Click the links below to enjoy some wintery fun!
The Sonic Stadium have revealed a fascinating new feature which discusses Sonic Adventure’s original downloadable content. This includes a Reebok sponsored speedrun challenge that I won’t reveal all the details for as it’s a great read that you should really check out.
Jun Senoue’s legendary Sonic Adventure custom ESP guitar is now being mass-produced!
ESP’s Japan site has just unveiled a new page featuring the guitar’s specs and further details. We can’t read Japanese, but we’re guessing that the details in the giant, red box mean the guitar is only available between 25/08/2011 and 31/12/2011 due to this year being Sonic’s 20th.
Jun’s Twitter also recommends that if you are interested in owning one and you’re not in Japan, you should talk to your local ESP retailer for additional details. This could mean that ESP Japan are willing to ship the guitars worldwide.
EDIT: UK price confirmed! Lick Library have announced the UK price of the Jun Senoue signature ESP guitar will be £1299. Better start saving those pennies! (thanks to Sam Manojlovic)
