The official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account has uploaded a mysterious image with an encrypted message.
The accompanying text says, “The key lies with @madeon. Good luck.” Madeon is a French electronic music producer who uses a similar encrypted style of text on his music’s artwork.
While a Madeon collaboration linked to Sonic the Hedgehog seems inevitable, fans on Reddit have quickly worked to decipher the message in hopes it leads to information about the heavily rumoured 25th anniversary Sonic title.
Brazilian video game cover act MegaDriver have re-recorded their Sonic the Hedgehog tribute album MetalHog to mark Sonic’s 25th Anniversary.
The new version of the album is entitled MetalHog 2.0 and is available from all good digital music services for $4.99. It’s also available on streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. MetalHog 2.0 also includes 3 bonus tracks that weren’t included on the original release.
MetalHog 2.0 will be released for free download on MegaDriver’s website on the 23rd of June, the 25th anniversary of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. You can stream it via Spotify via the below embed:
The Huffington Post have published a fascinating new article that uncovers more evidence that Michael Jackson did work on the soundtrack to Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
While claims and rumours that Jackson worked on the soundtrack have circulated for years, confirmation that the artist worked on the game has always been a bit flaky. Various sources have gone on record to say Jackson did work on the game, but nobody has ever managed to confirm exactly what songs Jackson had a hand in.
While this new article still doesn’t confirm exactly what songs contain Jackson’s direct influence, it does contain new interviews with the game’s credited composers that catagorically confirm Jackson’s involvement and the recording process. It’s a brilliant read that we highly recommend you check out. You can do so by clicking here.
– The Shinseiki Evangelion 2nd Impression Mini CD has been added, complete with high quality scans. This is a bonus item that is included with copies of the game
– The Sonic Generations: 20 Years of Sonic Music CD has been added, complete with high quality scans. This CD was only available as a part of the Sonic Generations Collector’s Edition
Existing entries in the index now have a much tidier look that puts the artwork front and center and any additional images are now linked via image thumbnails at the bottom. Just makes the entries a little easier to navigate.
The big update comes with 5 new entries to the index. These come in the form of the recent Data Discs vinyl releases of Streets of Rage, Shenmue, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master and Super Hang-On. Each release has its own separate entry with artwork and details about the release we thought were striking.
The final addition comes in the form of a Pulseman remix LP that was recently given to us by a good friend. This is quite a peculiar release as it was distributed in the UK despite the game never making it out of Japan.
