MegaDriver Release New Album of Shmup Covers ‘For Great Justice’ | SEGA Tunes

Heavy metal video game covers band MegaDriver have returned with a new album of covers based on tunes from various shoot-em-ups. The album is called For Great Justice and features metal renditions of songs from Thunderforce IV, Elemental Master, Zero Wing, Gaiares and more.

You can download the album for free from MegaDriver’s official website and it’s also available for streaming on Spotify, Bandcamp and Deezer.

SEGA Tunes: MegaDriver Re-Record MetalHog for Sonic’s 25th Anniversary

Brazilian video game cover act MegaDriver have re-recorded their Sonic the Hedgehog tribute album MetalHog to mark Sonic’s 25th Anniversary.

The new version of the album is entitled MetalHog 2.0 and is available from all good digital music services for $4.99. It’s also available on streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. MetalHog 2.0 also includes 3 bonus tracks that weren’t included on the original release.

MetalHog 2.0 will be released for free download on MegaDriver’s website on the 23rd of June, the 25th anniversary of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. You can stream it via Spotify via the below embed:

SEGA Tunes: MegaDriver Live at MagFest 12

MegaDriver have uploaded their entire live set from MagFest 12. The show includes a huge setlist of various video game themes rearranged in the band’s signature heavy metal style. SEGA highlights include music from Revenge of the Shinobi, Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Golden Axe and Out Run. Check it out below:

MegaDriver’s appearance at MagFest 12 was their first show outside of Brazil ever. An mp3 “bootleg” version of the show will appear on MegaDriver’s website for free download soon.

Mega Drive heavy metal covers band MegaDriver have been uploading these cool little ‘Game Metal Play’ videos which feature a re-arranged version of a song featured on a specific SEGA game but actually inserted into the game. We featured the Outrun cover a little while ago but since then MegaDriver have released Streets of Rage and M.U.S.H.A. covers which sound brilliant. Check them out:

SEGA Tunes: MegaDriver Actually Release a SEGA Themed Song For Once!

Brazilian metal beasts MegaDriver have released their own version of Splash Wave from the Outrun soundtrack. You can check it via this link: CLICK HERE

The band have been strangely focussed on music from games not featured on the Mega Drive for quite some time and have also begun work on original material.

You can also hear the Splash Wave cover in the below video which puts the song directly into Outrun 2 with great effect:
