SEGADriven is a SEGA news and information source that focuses on SEGA's console history, retro games and new software hitting the shelves. We want to share a love of great, quirky, clever and down-right fun games - something that SEGA have always specialised in. See below for the latest news, reviews and features added to the website.
SEGA have conducted a 3 part interview with Toshihiro Nagoshi and Masayoshi Yokoyama, the director and producer of Yakuza 5. In the interview they discuss Yakuza 5’s theme and answer questions from the fans:
Yakuza 5 launches in the West in the 4th quarter of this year.
SEGA will publish Picomy’s new mobile title Heroki. The game has been in development at the little Dutch studio for 5 years and is an action-adventure-flying game. You can check out a new trailer below:
Heroki will be launched as a “premium” title at $7.99 on the US app store. More on the EU pricing as we get it.
Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax will release in North America on August the 25th.
A European release date has yet to be set in stone but the North American release date allows us to ballpark the EU one. Keep your eyes set on the 28th of August as EU games are generally released on a Friday. Those lucky Americans also get a physical release of the game on PS3 and Vita while us Europeans only get a digital release.
Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax is a 2D one-on-one fighter based on various manga franchises like Sword Art Online and Accel World. SEGA cameos are also included by way of Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter and Selvaria Bles from Valkyria Chronicles.
On August 27th, Japan will get a DVD release of the Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza) stage play and there’s now a trailer for it below. Some of the actors playing each character are incredibly well chosen (Majima looks amazing) and the whole thing looks really authentic:
Imagine going to the theater and watching the yakuza have a big punch-up. Amazing.
This is a bit of a self-indulgent little piece but I felt compelled to write something about my history with the Sonic franchise as it’s the hedgehog’s 24th anniversary today.
If you’ve ever wondered about the history of SEGADriven and our “place” in the Sonic community then this should answer any questions you may have! It also acts as a personal celebration of the Sonic franchise and a “thank you” for allowing all of the experiences that have come with it.
Myself and Titanscreed are embarking on a journey to play some of our favourite retro classics and we kick things off with a series of us both playing through Streets of Rage 2 for the Mega Drive. You can watch the first part below:
Back in May, Crush 40 played the SEGA Joypolis as a launch event for their new CD 2 Nights 2 Remember. You can now watch a live recording of the band playing Live & Learn from the event. Check it out below:
Crush 40’s 2 Nights 2 Remember is out now and can be ordered from Amazon.
