The worldwide launch date for Sonic Runners has finally been confirmed!
The iOS and Android downloadable endless-runner from Sonic Team will launch worldwide on June the 25th. The game had previously only been available in Canada and Japan from February this year.
Sonic Runners is free-to-play (AKA free-to-download with in-game microtransactions).
A Hatsune Miku VR demo has been revealed at E3. Currently working under the title SEGA feat. Hatsune Miku Project: VR Tech Demo, the PS4 and Project Morpheus-powered demo allows you to attend a virtual Hatsune Miku live show and shake a Move controller like a glow-stick. Thankfully there’s a little more to it than that and the experience generally takes the form of a simple rhythm game.
SEGAbits managed to grab some off-screen footage of the demo in action which you can watch below:
There is currently no confirmation as to whether this demo will be released to the public or even be developed into a full game. If we’re going to be honest, this just looks like the sort of thing Sony have commissioned in order to show off the abilities of Project Morpheus. Fingers crossed it actually develops into something more than that.
Our second glimpse of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for Wii U and 3DS has now gone live! Check out the latest E3 trailer of the olympics-themed, crossover, mini-game collection below:
Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is due for release on Wii U and 3DS later this year.
Well this is an odd yet obvious inclusion when you think about it: Hatsune Miku has been added to Just Dance 2016.
The game allows you to perform Ievan Polkka which is normally used as the tutorial song in Project Diva games. Check out the trailer below and watch creepy cosplay Miku in action:
Just Dance 2016 launches on PS4, Wii U and Xbox One this October.
Yu Suzuki has gone indie to reveal the Kickstarter for Shenmue III!
Suzuki revealed the game on stage at Sony’s E3 conference and is asking for $2 million to fund the game’s development. At the time of writing $1,623,910 has already been raised by 19,305 people but you can literally watch it increase on the website.
The game will be built in Unreal 4 and the Kickstarter has several tiers with exclusive content for those that are interested. $29 will get you a digital copy of the game, $60 will get you a physical copy and $120 will get you the game as well as an actual Shenmue capsule toy.
SEGA have revealed a new Sonic Boom game to be released later this year exclusively on 3DS. Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is a sequel to Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal and developed once again by Sanzaru Games. You can view the announcement trailer below:
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal were the worst selling Sonic games in the history of the franchise. I can only assume the reason for this follow-up is because SEGA has invested a lot in the cartoon and all the merchandising off-shoots that have followed. In all honesty I’m glad we’re getting a sequel to Shattered Crystal as it was the most playable of the two original Sonic Boom games. I would’ve preferred Streets of Rage 4 though.
Eurogamer have cornered The Creative Assembly for a chat about Total War: Warhammer. It doesn’t really share much we don’t already know but CA have confirmed the existence of another historical Total War game. Inevitable, really. You can watch the interview in full below:
PC Gamer have got the inside scoop on Total War: Warhammer and have had access to a preview build of the game.
In their hands-on feature they discuss the games features in great detail and we even get 3 new screenshots of the game in action. Some of the features PC Gamer reveals are:
– The Battle of Blackfire Pass; a quest battle which is a new feature for the Total War franchise
– Each character in a quest battle has a series of missions which unlock items, abilities and mounts
– Flying creatures have been included for the first time. Air-to-air combat is still being ironed out
Mario and Sonic will join forces once again for the fifth installment in the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series.
Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will release on both Wii U and 3DS which differs from the previous entry in the series which was a Wii U exclusive. New events include golf and rugby and Jet the Hawk, Rouge the Bat and Zazz from The Deadly Six have been confirmed as playable characters.
You can watch the game’s reveal in the below video taken from the latest Nintendo Direct:
The soundtracks to Shenmue and Streets of Rage are getting re-pressed onto vinyl thanks to a new London record label called Data Discs. It has also been confirmed that the repress of the Streets of Rage soundtrack has been in collaboration with Yuzo Koshiro. The release is entirely remastered as well.
Collaborating with SEGA, Data Discs will press each soundtrack in 3 editions, with exclusive editions being offered to early adopters.
