Everyone Hates This – Tupac Shakur’s Likeness is in Stranger Than Heaven, Licensing Was Not Organised Through His Living Sister

Saturday, June 6th, 2026

Stranger Than Heaven was showcased at Summer Games Fest 2026 with a brand new trailer that reveals SEGA have licensed the likeness of another dead celebrity in the form of Tupac Shakur.

The game had already confirmed the use of Bunta Sugawara’s likeness, but what’s especially disappointing about this use of Tupac’s likeness is that it was arranged with his “estate”. Tupac’s “estate” is owned by Tom Whalley who is not related to Tupac in anyway. Whalley is actually being sued Sekyiwa Shakur – Tupac’s actual living sister.

Stranger Than Heaven is being developed by RGG Studio and it launches on the 15th of January 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. I would recommend not supporting this release if you don’t want to inadvertently send royalties to a rich guy who seized Tupac’s estate after the passing of Tupac’s mother.

Thursday, May 7th, 2026

A brand new 5 minute cast & story trailer for Stranger Than Heaven has landed.

The cast features a slew of big names including Yu Shirota, Dean Fujioka, Snoop Dogg, Moeka Hoshi, Tori Kelly, Akio Otsuka, Tokuma Nishioka, Satoshi Fujihara, Cordell Broadus, Ado, and a character being physically portrayed by the late Bunta Sugawara and voiced by Takashi Ukaji.

The game is still set across 5 different eras, but the story now appears to be about the founding of the Tojo Clan – the faction of the Yakuza that Kiryu Kazama is a part of in the main Yakuza franchise.

Stranger Than Heaven will release in Winter 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game is being developed by RGG Studio.
