If the surprise announcement that Sonic Lost World was finding its way to PC wasn’t exciting enough then you’ll be pleased to know that SEGA are also planning to release more of their games on PC “in the coming months and years”.
John Clark, VP of Commercial Publishing for SEGA Europe has said, “This is the latest in a string of high quality PC ports of past SEGA titles that we will be building on in the coming months and years.” SEGA seems to have its sights set on expanding its business in the PC gaming category which makes sense when you remember that the PC release of Valkyria Chronicles became a bit of a surprise hit for SEGA.
There is currently no word on what games will be making their way to PC but hopefully it means more of SEGA’s console exclusives like Resonance of Fate, Sonic Colours and Vanquish get a wider release.
The first SEGA console 3DS theme to make the big move from Japan to Western eShops is a Game Gear one. You can check out a short video of it in action by clicking here.
SEGA had been previously teasing the launch of the console 3DS themes with a short soundbyte that also confirms the existence of the Dreamcast theme. You can check that out by clicking here.
More news on release dates and what other console themes SEGA decide to make the jump to the West as we get it.
All of a sudden, Sonic Lost World is no longer a Wii U exclusive and is now on its way to PC!
Sonic Team’s latest Sonic outing can now be pre-ordered on Steam for £19.99 and you also get a free copy of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (this will only be available during pre-order). The game officially launches on November 2nd.
This is great news for PC Sonic fans as SEGA’s PC ports are generally very well handled and in the case of Sonic Generations, they also open up wonderful modding opportunities.
Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom will be launching on iOS and Android ‘soon’.
The game was previously soft-launched on Android devices in certain countries in a similar way to Sonic Runners, but now the game is ready for its full launch.
As the sequel to Sonic Dash, the game features similar endless running gameplay to the original but with new gimmicks such as using the enerbeam to lock onto sky-rails. The game also takes its visual cues from the Sonic Boom animated series.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the Western release of Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax and then all of a sudden there’s a new character roster trailer to check out (see below) and news of the game’s US release which is next week!
The game launches on the PSN store on October 6th. This is for both the PS3 and PS Vita versions. Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax is a cross-franchise fighting game featuring characters from anime and manga series’ like Sword Art Online. There’s also some cheeky SEGA cameos as well:
3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 finally has a release date! The stereoscopic 3D remaster by M2 hits the 3DS eShop on the 8th of October.
Outside the obvious addition of stereoscopic 3D visuals, the only major change to this version of Sonic 2 comes with the ability to save anywhere and play multiplayer co-op or vs modes with each player on a dedicated device. Also included is a new unlockable Super Sonic mode which allows you to activate Super Sonic at any point in the game.

More Yakuza news from TGS! Takeshi Kitano, known to most as Beat Takeshi will voice a new character in Yakuza 6.
Takeshi has a long career as an actor, director, comedian and talk show host and is one of Japan’s biggest names. Most of his Western exposure comes from his appearance in Battle Royale and terrible 1995 sci-fi Johnny Mnemonic alongside Keanu Reeves and Dolph Lundgren.
In Japan, Takeshi has starred and directed in some amazing works of cinema including a fantastic reboot of Zatoichi based on the legendary blind swordsman and he has a reputation for directing gangster films. Exciting news for fans of his work.
In what has to be a first for the Sonic franchise, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will be delayed until 2016 so the game can be improved and fine-polished. There is currently no exact release date in 2016 other than, “it’ll be ready when it’s ready”.
The Sonic franchise is not well known for delays and generally when a release date is set for a game then it gets delivered in whatever state it’s in at the time. This has resulted in some pretty lackluster efforts like Sonic the Hedgehog ’06 and even last year’s Sonic Boom games Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal.
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice was due to release on 3DS in quarter four this year and this delay marks one of the few occasions I feel a delay can really benefit a game. The Sonic franchise deserves more great entries and rush-releasing games has never been good practice for the blue blur. Fingers crossed Fire & Ice turns into a worthy entry in the franchise whenever it is that we next see it.
A port of Hatsune Miku Project Diva Arcade Future Tone is heading to PS4 in Japan in 2016, now called Hatsune Miku Project Diva Future Tone.
There aren’t many details regarding what will be ported across as Future Tone has a ridiculously large playlist. How the game will even play is in question as well as Future Tone uses a custom 4 button and touch slider control scheme. Thankfully I an see how this could be easily transferred to the PS4 controller, especially as it has a touch pad of its own.
More on this as we get it.
UPDATE
Here’s the trailer. The face buttons are mapped to the 4 buttons of the arcade cabinet’s buttons but we don’t see how the touch slider works:
