SEGADriven is a SEGA news and information source that focuses on SEGA's console history, retro games and new software hitting the shelves. We want to share a love of great, quirky, clever and down-right fun games - something that SEGA have always specialised in. See below for the latest news, reviews and features added to the website.
Prope, the studio funded by SEGA and lead by Yuji Naka, have announced Rodea: The Sky Soldier. The game will be released for Wii and 3DS but no date has currently been set.
The game is meant to be the spirtual successor to NiGHTS into dreams… and follows a similar gameplay style based on flying. Rodea also adds an on-rails shooting element to the gameplay which is also very reminiscent of the Panzer Dragoon games.
There is currently no word on whether SEGA will publish the game or not as SEGA opted out of publishing Prope’s last game, Ivy the Kiwi?
Platinum Games are developing a new game for PS3 and 360 to be published by SEGA called Max Anarchy. The game is described as “massively multiplayer melee fighting action” with a large focus on online play.
Screenshots in Famitsu magazine show characters in battle with chainsaws and torches. Jack from MadWorld appears as a playable character but is rendered in full colour instead of black and white.
It is scheduled for a worldwide release in Autumn 2011. SEGA have promised more information on the game “later this week”.
Sonic 2 HD; the fan-recreation of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has released a brand new teaser trailer. The trailer shows some of the first footage of the fan-game and promises the release of a playable alpha version ‘soon’. Check it out:
Well this is a bit embaressing, but SEGADriven has suffered a rather severe database error. Dreadknux and Bman have been working very hard this evening trying to get SEGADriven back up and running but there’s a strong possibility that we may have lost a large amount of data.
If all goes well, Bman should be able to restore an old backup of the site and we’ll have it in a decent condition soon. Please be patient!
Big thanks to Dreadknux and Bman for sorting this issue out! I’d be well and truly knackered without them! Stay tuned to SEGADriven as we’ll be resuming normal operation next week!
Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5 Part 2 and SEGA Bass Fishing. How convenient? That’s the same 4 titles that have been or are being released on X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network!
The collection will be released in Europe on February 25th for X-Box 360, PS3 and PC. It will also be enhanced with achievements/trophies and online leaderboards.

Whilst browsing the internet recently, I discovered that the guitarist for one of my favourite bands is a bit of a gamer geek. The chap in question is Ol Drake from the thrash band Evile. His channel has a few heavy metal re-imaginings of video game tunes but this rendition of the Jungle Zone theme from the 8-bit version of Sonic 1 really stood out:

SEGA’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Alan Pritchard has told Game Informer that a packaged Dreamcast collection is on its way ‘soon’. Pritchard’s full comment is as follows:
“The Dreamcast fans are very devoted. You see on eBay people are still buying the games and system. We actually have a Dreamcast collection coming out soon. We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged. The titles are still to be announced. The Ultimate Genesis Collection did huge numbers on PS3 and 360, so it’s an important part of our business. We’ve already been releasing some Dreamcast games digitally; Crazy Taxi [for one].”
Still no word on what systems it’s going to be released for or a solid release date yet. Spring 2011 is definately our bet. The original listing (which has since been pulled) on Gamestop listed PS3 and 360 as the collection’s platforms with a temporary release date as February 15th.
