New Shenmue Easter Egg Discovered: Nozomi Jumps into Action!

Sunday, August 18th, 2019

A fascinating new discovery has been made in the original Shenmue – a certain set of conditions can trigger a fight scene where Nozomi joins Ryo in the action.

According to the fine folk at PhatomRiverStone.com, this scene can be triggered by visiting Sakuragaoka park before 7pm on a sunny or snowy day after Ryo’s brawl at the Heartbeats Bar. However, you must make your visit after the Heartbeats Bar brawl and before Ryo visits the tattoo parlor, which is the next location in Ryo’s quest.

Click the below embed to see what happens in the fight at Sakuragaoka park once the conditions have been successfully met:

For full details on how to trigger this fight scene in Shenmue, head on over to PhantomRiverStone.com’s post on the easter egg as they go into far more detail about the additional requirements that are needed to trigger this event.

SEGA Launch Cryptic “HMKD” Teaser Site

Friday, August 16th, 2019

Somewhat out of the blue, SEGA has launched a mysterious new teaser site, with nothing but what appears to be a heart rate monitor and “HMKD” in its name. There’s no other details on the site on in the tweet, just an option to sign up to a mailing list so you can “be the first to know.”

We don’t know when whatever this is will be revealed, but we can safely assume it might be tied into the announcement SEGA is planning for Gamescom. Time will tell.

First Look at In-Game Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD Action | Video Spotlight

Thursday, August 8th, 2019

SEGA have just uploaded the first in-game trailer for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, and as you can expect it’s basically Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz in HD. That’s no bad thing because the original game was certainly a good-looking game, and with that added clarity it now looks even better. Check it out:

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD released on the 29th of October 2019 for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. A PC port will arrive later in the Winter. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is also famous for being the last Super Monkey Ball game directed by series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi who would later find fame with the Yakuza franchise.

SEGA Unveil Gamescom 2019 Lineup, Including “Unannounced AAA Title”

Tuesday, August 6th, 2019

SEGA has announced via PR their lineup for Gamescom 2019, taking place in Germany on August 20th-24th.

On show at the event will be Catherine: Full Body (PS4), the recently confirmed console ports of Two-Point Hospital (Switch, PS4, Xbox One), and the Mega Drive Mini. In addition however, SEGA will also be showing a new ‘AAA’ title to the public for the first time. It’s completely up in the air as to what this could be, though it may be worth noting an event is planned in Japan for August 29th to divulge new information on the next Yakuza title, starring new protagonist Ichiban Kasuga. But with this being a European expo, it might be better to expect something from SEGA’s PC-centric divisions, such as a new RTS title.

Time will tell, but we’re looking forward to seeing what SEGA’s adding to its already loaded arsenal of upcoming titles.
