Indie Mega Drive shoot-em-up ZPF is aiming to launch in February 2025 through Mega Cat Studios and if you want to secure a physical copy then you can now contribute to the game’s Kickstarter.
This impressive-looking shooter features artwork by Gryzor who previously worked on Gunlord and Neo XYX for Dreamcast. Coding is being handled by Mikael Tillander who also programmed Mega Drive indie game Tänzer. You can check out a trailer for the game here:
A playable demo of ZPF was released last October and is still available to download by clicking here.
If you’re unfamiliar with developer Mega Cat Studios, the team have released multiple independent Mega Drive games like Coffee Crisis, Arkagis Revolution and Little Medusa.

Columbus Circle are back once again with a new Mega Drive game, but this time we have something really special. The publisher is producing a brand new port of Mad Stalker: Full Metal Forth for the Mega Drive. This title has never been released on the Mega Drive before and was originally released for Sharp X68000 computers. The game is supposedly one of the biggest influences on the development of Guardian Heroes. You can watch the reveal trailer below:
Mad Stalker: Full Metal Forth will release on the Mega Drive on the 17th of September 2020 and can be pre-ordered now from Amazon Japan. It is priced at 6,578 yen, which currently converts to £48.68 in British sterling. Columbus Circle have previously been responsible for re-releases of Advanced Busterhawk Gleylancer and the release of 16-Bit Rhythm Land and Ultracore.
In our latest video on our YouTube channel, we take a look at the recently released first demo of Noah Copeland’s Sonic Triple Trouble remake. Click the embed below to see the game in action alongside our thoughts and first impressions:
It’s time for a new independent Mega Drive development! This time we have Demons of Asteborg; an action title from Neofid Technology based in Manosque, France.
Demons of Asteborg is a game very much in the Ghouls ‘n Ghosts/Volgarr the Viking mold. The game is due to be released on Steam, Nintendo Switch and most importantly, the SEGA Mega Drive in August 2020. However, it requires £30,892 of funding to be made a reality, and that’s where Kickstarter comes into play.
If this all sounds interesting to you, you can pledge towards the game’s development and receive the game for whatever format you desire as either a physical product or a digital download. There are many tiers to choose from to suit as many people as possible so click here to check out the Demons of Asteborg Kickstarter page and see what takes your fancy.
