Announced back in September 2020, Shenmue the Animation will be a 13 episode animated series that adapts the events of both Shenmue 1 & 2. The series is being distributed in the West by Adult Swim and Crunchy Roll and now we finally have our first look at the series in action. Check it out via the embed below:
Shenmue the Animation will debut on Adult Swim and Crunchy Roll at some point in 2022. The series will be directed by Sakurai Chikara of Telecom Animation Film Studios and managed by Sola Entertainment.
As previously reported, on the 20th of September 2021, SEGA Japan closed the doors on one of its biggest arcades in the form of the SEGA GiGO located in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. While the arcade lives on through a virtual recreation that you can explore at home, the Tokyo Lens YouTube channel has created a short documentary about the arcade and why arcades are closing Japan with increasing frequency. It also contains interviews with the venue’s actual staff and managers and it offers some fascinating insight into the Japanese arcade industry in 2021.

The first part of the Sonic Colours animated short ‘Rise of the Wisps’ is now available.

In today’s episode, Sonic and Tails are joined by a lone Jade Wisp, who narrowly escapes the deceptively charming Sweet Mountain ride at Dr. Eggman’s Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park. Together, Sonic, Tails and their new companion, must band together to uncover Dr. Eggman’s evil plot to harness the Wisps’ powers and take over the universe.
The short was directed by Tyson Hesse, though notably it was also co-written by GGDG (Cucumber Quest). We’ll keep our eyes open for the next part, hopefully coming soon.
Sonic Colours Ultimate will be launching September 9th, for Xbox, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Epic Games.

A new trailer of Shin Megami Tensei V has landed and it highlights more of the game’s story while also showcasing one of the game’s antagonists named Bethel. There is also a lot of new in-game action to see. You can watch the new trailer by clicking the embed below:
The 5th entry in the long-running Shin Megami Tensei RPG series will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 12th 2021. The game is being published by SEGA’s Atlus subsidiary.
More bonus characters have been revealed for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania and this time we have the additions of both Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles “Tails” Prower. When these characters are in use the bananas strewn around the game’s levels also become rings for added Sonic the Hedgehog theming. Check it out in the reveal trailer below:
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania launches for Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles on the 5th of October 2021. The game is an enhanced remake of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe which originally released on PS2 and Xbox back in 2005.
In the latest Sonic Colours gameplay trailer we get a closer look at the returning wisp powers as well as a new inclusion to Sonic Colours Ultimate. The new wisp comes in the form of the Jade ghost wisp which allows Sonic to temporarily phase through scenery. You can see them all in action via the embed below:
Sonic Colours Ultimate launches on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on the 7th of September 2021. This new version of Sonic Colours boasts high definition resolutions, 60 fps gameplay and a whole host of new features.
SEGA are gearing up for the release of A Total War Saga: Troy in September with a look at some of the monsters available in its Troy: Mythos DLC that will also drop on day one. The latest trailer takes a look at The Griffin Patriarch and you can watch it in action via the embed below:
A Total War Saga: Troy is the latest title in the long running strategy series from The Creative Assembly and the first to set its action during the Trojan War. Beat from Jet Set Radio is joining the Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania cast as an unlockable character. When using Beat, the collectible bananas also change to cans of spray paint which is a cute little touch that helps with the Jet Set Radio theming. SEGA Europe and SEGA America are releasing Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles in the West. The game is based on the long-running Demon Slayer manga and features a stylistic, anime graphical style. You can watch the first trailer below which highlights some of the game’s story beats:
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles will release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on the 15th of October 2021. The game is available in 3 editions: a standard physical edition, a standard digital edition and a deluxe digital edition that includes a raft of digital extras that include bonus characters, avatars and costumes.
The developers of Endless Space 2 and Humankind are back with another title in the Endless franchise called Endless Dungeon. This time around we have a roguelike twin-stick shooter and it looks like you can play with up to 3 players in co-operative gameplay. The goal of the game is to fend off waves of alien baddies and defend a crystal from being shattered by the advancing enemies. You can check out the latest gameplay trailer below:
Endless Dungeon will release on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. There is currently no release date set for the game.
