Merchandise: New Releases Added to Our SEGA Music Index and Further Updates

Tuesday, January 5th, 2016

Our SEGA Music Index continues to receive more updates!

Existing entries in the index now have a much tidier look that puts the artwork front and center and any additional images are now linked via image thumbnails at the bottom. Just makes the entries a little easier to navigate.

The big update comes with 5 new entries to the index. These come in the form of the recent Data Discs vinyl releases of Streets of Rage, Shenmue, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master and Super Hang-On. Each release has its own separate entry with artwork and details about the release we thought were striking.

The final addition comes in the form of a Pulseman remix LP that was recently given to us by a good friend. This is quite a peculiar release as it was distributed in the UK despite the game never making it out of Japan.

Review: Alien Storm on Mega Drive

Wednesday, January 28th, 2015

Alien_storm_logo

Alien Storm is an often ignored entry in SEGA’s beat-em-up history for reasons that aren’t particularly clear. Did the humour put off the die-hard SEGA fanbase? Were SEGA fans simply not interested in anything that wasn’t Streets of Rage or Golden Axe? Who knows. Regardless, we think it’s a game you should check out and now we have a review explaining exactly why we think it’s worth your time.

Centiment to Tour in November With Multiplayer Mega Drive Gaming at Every Show

Tuesday, October 7th, 2014

We’ve spoken about Centiment in the past because the British metallers have quite the penchant for old SEGA games. Their debut album Streets of Rage released earlier this year and features the songs Defenders of Oasis, Bloodshot and Zero Tolerance.

Now the band embark on a UK tour in December in support of their new EP, Retro. Creatively titled The Retro Gamer Tour, the band are setting up multiplayer Mega Drive action at the merch desk of every show on the tour.

If heavy music with a retro gaming twist is up your street then you might want to catch Centiment on one of these upcoming UK tour dates:

1/12 – Think Tank, Newcastle
2/12 – Audio, Glasgow
3/12 – Fibbers, York
4/12 – The Compass, Chester
5/12 – Alfie Birds, Birmingham

Centiment feature 3 of the 4 members of British rockers InMe. You can stream and buy their album Streets of Rage by clicking this link.

SEGA 3D Reprint Archives Box Art Revealed, 2 Master System Games Also Included

Friday, September 26th, 2014

Above you will see the cover art for the new SEGA 3D classics collection SEGA 3D Reprint Archives. The game will be exclusive to Japan and will include the 3D ports of Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, Out Run, Ecco the Dolphin, Streets of Rage and Shinobi III that were released on the 3DS eShop.

What’s really interesting about the collection is the 2 new inclusions that are exclusive to the collection. Remastered ports of the Master System 3D versions of Space Harrier and Out Run will also be included. These games were originally released for SEGA’s 3-D Glasses peripheral that worked with the Master System. Only 8 games made use of the peripheral and this is the first time any of the games have received a port to another system.

More details on SEGA 3D Reprint Archives can be found at the game’s official website.
