Someone has bought the Dreamcast Zip Drive! The auction ended on the 18th of December at 18:07 CET.
ORIGINAL POST
The Dreamcast Zip Drive was an unreleased add-on that was due to release in Autumn 2000. Co-developed by SEGA and Iomega, the device would give users access to 100mb zip disks to allow for greater storage space for browsing the internet and downloading additional game content like maps for Quake III Arena. The add-on connects to the Dreamcast via its expansion port and power input, requiring you to then power your Dreamcast using the zip drive’s power input. The zip drive also features a USB slot on the front which would have given users access to more peripherals that never came to pass.
It’s an interesting little device that never made it to store shelves, but now you can own one of the prototypes. There is currently “one of less than five worldwide” on sale on eBay. The zip drive is located in Berlin and will set you back 4225 euros, around £3798 in British sterling. It’s certainly not a bargain, but it’s definitely one of the more interesting SEGA curios to pop up for quite some time. And let’s not forget, it does come with a zip disk!

Another Sonic the Hedgehog movie poster has apparently leaked and it gives us a full look at Sonic’s face, unobscured by shadow.
However, this image leak is a little different in that the image comes from 2017, after the movie was greenlit and with a different cast. Case in point: Chris Pratt is featured on this poster instead of James Marsden.
There are some other differences to Sonic’s design as well. His shoes showcase a different design to the recent posters and his legs appear shorter.
It might be best to take this image with a pinch of salt as its difficult to trace a solid source. This could be an elaborate hoax. We will update this story as we clarify the details.
The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is due to release on the 26th of December 2019 in the UK. The film will be directed by Jeff Fowler, Ben Schwartz will voice Sonic the Hedgehog and Jim Carrey will play Dr. Robotnik.
Another new poster for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been leaked online and it showcases a view of San Francisco from on top of the Golden Gate Bridge. Sonic’s eerily athletic legs are also showcased, along with his new footwear and lack of socks. A blue streak showing Sonic’s path to his eventual destination helps portray his speed.
It’s pretty safe to say that Sonic’s design in these two posters hasn’t exactly been met with open arms by the online community. The deviation from Sonic’s classic design hasn’t been popular with fans or even SEGA for that matter, who have been quoted as saying they weren’t happy with the design of Sonic’s eyes (which we have yet to see).
But it’s still early days for this movie. At the time of writing we haven’t seen a single teaser or trailer for the film, so it’s difficult to judge it on two images. It’ll certainly be interesting to see what everything looks like in motion.
The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is due to release on the 26th of December 2019 in the UK. The film will be directed by Jeff Fowler and also star Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik.
Japanese publisher Columbus Circle is releasing a new Mega Drive game called Rhythm Land. The title kind of gives it away, but this is a rhythm game in the Rhythm Heaven mould that features varied environments to interact with, all to the rhythm of a song. The soundtrack even features music from Yuzo Koshiro. Check out the trailer below which also features footage of the 8 bit version of Rhythm Land which is available for Famicom:
The game is due to release on the 15th of February 2019 and can be pre-ordered now through Amazon Japan for ¥6458 (roughly £45 at time of writing).
