A new entry in the Mario & Sonic Olympic game series has been announced. The new title is based around the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Gameplay footage can be seen below:
Also announced at today’s Nintendo Direct is Yakuza 1&2 HD for Wii-U. It appears the game will still be a Japan exclusive title though. The game releases in Japan on 8/8/2013.
Christian “Taxman” Whitehead and Stealth’s remastered version of Sonic the Hedgehog is now available for iOS and Android. Owners of SEGA’s original mobile port of Sonic 1 should also be receiving updates which essentially turn the game into the remastered version.
Check out some screenshots of the new features below which include the option to play as Tails and Knuckles as well as customisable controls and the ability to change the “box art” to the region of your choice:
Aliens: Colonial Marines may have been a critical flop but that still hasn’t stopped people buying it. SEGA have managed to shift 1.3 million copies of the game across Xbox 360, PC and PS3 which is a similar amount to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
Another great seller is Football Manager 2013 which has managed to ship 940,000 units on PC alone. Well done Sports Interactive!
In other news SEGA have revealed they are publishing 5 PS Vita games and 7 Wii-U games this year. It hasn’t been revealed what the titles are but that’s a lot of SEGA for Vita and Wii-U owners.
The Creative Assembly’s Total War: Rome II will release worldwide on September 3rd for PC. Pre-ordering now also gives you the first DLC pack for free.
Also announced is a rather lavish collector’s edition (pictured above). Contained in the set is a numbered copy of the game, a Tabula set with dice, a Total War card game called Punic Wars complete with 58 cards and a Roman Onager catapult which needs to be assembled from a kit.
Check out the pre-order trailer for the game below which also details the contents of the first DLC pack:
Now here’s an interesting development! Backbone Entertainment responsible for the SEGA Vintage Collection, SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection and SEGA Mega Drive Collection for PSP pitched new Streets of Rage and ESWAT games to SEGA.
They were unfortunately unsuccessful in their endevour but concept art for both titles has now been leaked online. Check it out:
News has broken that SEGA will re-release Sonic the Hedgehog on the 3DS eShop with added 3D support to show depth in the backgrounds. This news follows the release of 3D Space Harrier and 3D Super Hang-On, all of which are still Japan exclusive.
The re-release will launch on May 15th to mark the 25th anniversary of the Mega Drive in Japan and it will be priced 600 yen. Additional features include the already mentioned 3D effect, all the bug fixes and added details from the later revisions of Sonic 1 (rippling water, scrolling clouds), the addition of the spin attack, a classic view mode which simulates a CRT monitor and an option to choose a Mega Drive model 1 or 2 sound balance.
This re-release is unrelated to Christian Whitehead and Stealth’s port of Sonic the Hedgehog which runs using Whitehead’s custom Retro Engine and supports a widescreen display.
Take a look at some screenshots below:
No word on whether this version will make it to the West at this time.
