All 3 Nintendo/SEGA Partnered Sonic Titles Coming This Year

The 3 Sonic titles exclusive to the Nintendo and SEGA worldwide partnership will be released this year. This information comes from a press release from Nintendo Germany which catagorically states:

Today, they (Sega) revealed further details of the second of three titles, which the two companies will release exclusively on Wii U and 3DS. All three games will be released this year.

So good news for Wii-U and 3DS owners! It’s going to be a very Sonicy year!

Nintendo and SEGA Announce Worldwide Partnership for the Sonic Franchise

Nintendo and SEGA have announced a worldwide partnership for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. This will mean that the next 3 Sonic titles will be completely exclusive to Nintendo platforms. This also includes an unannounced title.

President and COO of SEGA of America, John Cheng has said:

“Sonic the Hedgehog has proven incredibly successful on Nintendo platforms and we are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Nintendo. As we initiate this new exclusive partnership with the next three titles we believe that Wii U(TM) and Nintendo 3DS(TM) are ideal platforms to showcase the evolution of the Sonic brand.”

SEGA and Creative Assembly Announce Partnership With Games Workshop to Create Warhammer Games

SEGA and The Creative Assembly have announced a partnership with Games Workshop that will allow them to develop Warhammer-themed video games.

Tim Heaton, the Studio Director at The Creative Assembly said, “With this year being our 25th anniversary it seems fitting for us to embark on such a dream project with such a well-established partner. The incredibly rich and detailed Warhammer world is something we grew up with, and has left an indelible imprint on us as both designers and gamers. We’ll be doing the Warhammer universe justice in a way that has never been attempted before. We’re bringing those 25 years of experience and expertise in extremely high-scoring games to bear, delivering a Warhammer experience that videogamers will absolutely love.”

An untitled Warhammer game will now be under development by The Creative Assembly along with Total War: Rome II and an untitled Alien game. The Creative Assembly have a lot of work on their hands!

SEGA to Publish New Double Fine Game

SEGA recently teased the above cryptic image in regards to the announcement of a new game and some clever-clogs over at SEGABits has managed to match it to a piece by Double Fine artist Ron Gilbert on his blog.

So there you have it, SEGA and Double Fine are joining forces. Let’s hope this partnership produces something unique! More details on this title as we get it.

SEGA Partners with Arkedo Studio for New Project

SEGA have announced a partnership with Arkedo Studio, the developers behind Nervous Brickdown and Big Bang Mini for Nintendo DS as well as the Arkedo Series on XBLA and PSN.

The new project is currently known as Project Hell Yeah! There is currently no word on what the ‘project’ will be (we’re assuming it’ll be a PSN/XBLA game) but more will be revealed on Arkedo’s blog which you can access by clicking here.

Arkedo appear to be pretty avid SEGA fans. Camille Guermonprez the studio chief has said, “See, SEGA? We spent the last five years telling you repeatedly that someday, somehow, you would publish one of our games. This day has come. Hell Yeah! Now let’s go back to work and finish the damn thing.”
