SEGA of Japan’s exclusive 7th Dragon RPG series will continue with a 3rd installment entitled 7th Dragon 2020 3rd Encout.
The first game 7th Dragon was released on Nintendo DS while the second game 7th Dragon 2020 was released for the Sony PSP. There are no details as to what console 3rd Encount will be released for as the only information regarding the game’s existence lies with a trademark that was filed for the name as well as a logo.
The first game was infamous for being produced by Phantasy Star designer Rieko Kodama and being soundtracked by Yuzo Koshiro of Streets of Rage fame.
SEGA of Japan have revealed a new online RPG for Wii-U, PS Vita and PSP called Demon Tribe (information on formats discovered on Wikipedia). There isn’t much information available on the title outside the official website and the following announcement trailer:
As per usual there is no word on a Western release at this time.
More Game Gear classics appear to be on their way to the 3DS eShop! Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will become available for Japanese 3DS owners on the 31st of October for 300 yen.
There is currently no word on a Western release at this time.
Our rather spectacular host The Sonic Stadium is 12 years old today! Svend “Dreadknux” Joscelyne started The Sonic Stadium on the 24th of October 2000 and it has grown into the premier Sonic the Hedgehog fansite on the internet. We are very proud to be hosted by them and form a part of the TSS Network.
Without further ado, here’s our birthday message to The Sonic Stadium:
Other standout TSS moments for me include:
– Learning about the pirate Sonic game ‘Sonic 3 Fighter Sonic‘ through an article at TSS and then seeing an actual copy at a bootsale a week later! Yes, I actually bought it knowing full well that it was supposed to be terrible!
– Thoroughly enjoying Brad “Slingerland” Flick’s writing and opinion pieces. I’d love to meet the man one day; seems like a really down-to-Earth/funny guy
– The Sonic Site Awards! We always enjoyed SSA and watching the whole thing unfold. It was always exciting to see if we’d won anything!
You may forget, but we are a part of a cool little network of websites hosted by our awesome buddies The Sonic Stadium and we’re very proud of this fact. So we’d like to point your attention to this new edition of The Community Spotlight that sees Pete “Titanscreed” Nethercote interviewing Svend “Dreadknux” Joscelyne from The Sonic Stadium! This is part 1 of a 2 part edition of The Community Spotlight so make sure you come back on Thursday to see the 2nd part:
Have you heard of Game Grumps yet? The YouTube game show features Jontron and Egoraptor sitting down together to play games and talk rubbish. While the concept has been done a million times before, Game Grumps manages to be a cut above the rest simply because the two men are so funny to listen to.
Most of the show has featured Nintendo games up until now. Now the pair are tackling Shenmue which is already producing some funny moments like Jontron losing his cool with the controls and Egoraptor singing along with the theme that plays in the Hazuki residence.
You can watch the first part below. Please be warned that Game Grumps features bad language and adult themes:
Dreamcast helicopter-em-up Under Defeat is being re-released by Rising Star Games on November 9th for X-Box 360 and PS3. The original title (released by the mighty shmup developer G.Rev) was released for the Dreamcast in 2006 as a Japanese exclusive. As a later Dreamcast release it is now highly collectable. Check out some HD gameplay below:
According to Siliconera, the upcoming Yakuza 1 & 2 HD collection will include an “Easy + Heat Up Mode”. This mode makes the enemies easier to defeat and also helps you fill your heat gauge faster. Apparently the games’ original easy modes weren’t easy enough.
Yakuza 1&2 HD Edition comes out in Japan on November 15th. There is still no word on a Western release at this time.
SEGA’s Japanese exclusive racing series Initial D is headed back to the arcades for a 7th installment (that’s right, 7! Any chance of a Western release for some of these games, please SEGA?). The game is called Initial D Arcade Stage 7 AAX (bit of a mouthful) and there’s a new trailer available to watch now:
How did we miss this? Our good friends at SEGA Memories found this 2 hour collection of SEGA footage from various UK TV shows and adverts that was compiled by YouTube user DodgyKebaab. It’s a fascinating watch:
SEGA Memories being the awesome chaps they are have actually picked a few highlights and the exact times they appear. Click here to see it.
