Shenmue III Delayed to November 19th 2019

Tuesday, June 4th, 2019

The much anticipated Shenmue III has suffered another delay. Fortunately the game is still planned to release this year, but it’ll now be launching November 19th, rather than August 26th as previously planned.

In a joint statement, Yu Suzuki’s company YS NET and publisher Deep Silver said that the game “needed more refinement before being truly finished.”

We’re all for delays in the name of improving a game’s quality, so here’s hoping this helps Shenmue III become the game that fans have been waiting for.

New Shenmue III Trailer Gives Us First Look At In-Game Action | Video Spotlight

Saturday, March 9th, 2019

Our first look at in-game Shenmue III is finally here, and it comes courtesy of the Magic event currently taking place in Monaco. Take a look at the embed below to see Ryo, Shenhua and Lan Di in action. We get our first look at some of the story fragments and fighting that features in the upcoming sequel:

Shenmue III is not being published by SEGA, but Deep Silver are taking over publishing duties. SEGA still holds the license to the Shenmue franchise. Yu Suzuki and his Ys Net studio are developing the game, and the title is due for release on the 27th of August 2019.

New Switch Out Run Screenshots Emerge

Wednesday, November 21st, 2018

A fresh batch of screenshots showcasing the M2 SEGA Ages port of Out Run for Nintendo Switch have surfaced. Check out the gallery below to see how the port is shaping up:

This port appears to be heavily based on the previous 3DS port (also by M2). It appears we have new songs with one track in particular called Radiation -Nostalgia Ver.- (perhaps a chiptune version of Radiation from Out Run 2006?), we’ve got a CRT filter that’s made to emulate the look of the original arcade cabinet and an expanded widescreen (but bordered) resolution. The car sprites are also based on the later Shenmue II port of the game which alters the car graphics to make them more indistinct from actual cars like the Ferrari Testarossa. This is likely to avoid a licensing issue.

The Switch port of SEGA Ages is still due to release in Japan sometime this year for 925 yen. There is currently no word on a release date for the rest of the world.

UPDATE 22/11/18
Eurogamer have now confirmed that Out Run will launch worldwide early next year.

Shenmue III Delayed to 2nd Half of 2018

Thursday, June 8th, 2017

shenmue3

The inevitable Shenmue III delay has arrived! Shenmue III will now release in the 2nd half of 2018.

It had previously been slated for a December 2017 release but as was previously revealed, Shenmue III was not scheduled for an appearance at this year’s E3 which put a 2017 release into doubt.

Yu Suzuki announced the delay himself in the latest Kickstarter update and has said, “By utilising new technologies, we have been able to discover new possibilities and expressions. In many ways, the game has become bigger and more beautiful than I initially expected. We do, however, need more time to deliver the game to you.”

Shenmue III will not be published by SEGA but instead by Sony. The game will eventually launch on PC and PS4.
