Merchandise: Data Discs Start Pre-Orders on Out Run Vinyl This Saturday

Data Discs’s next SEGA game soundtrack to make it to vinyl will be the Out Run soundtrack by Hiroshi “Hiro” Kawaguchi, Masayoshi Ishi, Manabu Namiki and Jane-Evelyn Nisperos. Pre-orders will go live at 7pm BST on Saturday the 25th of June.

The record will be available in 3 colourways; a limited edition mint green, clear and pink record, solid mint green and classic black. 50 copies of the limited edition will also be hand-signed by Hiroshi “Hiro” Kawaguchi himself and distributed randomly to anyone who manages to snag a limited edition copy of the record.

Merchandise: Data Discs Reveal Plans for Panzer Dragoon Soundtrack Release on Vinyl

Data Discs have revealed they have plans to release the Panzer Dragoon soundtrack on vinyl. This title will join the vinyl release of the Out Run soundtrack as the only two releases from Data Discs currently scheduled for 2016. There are currently no details regarding release dates or colour-ways at this time.

In other news, Data Discs will restock their first release of the Streets of Rage soundtrack with copies on translucent red and black vinyl appearing on their store from May 1st at 5pm BST. Shenmue, Super Hang-On and Streets of Rage 2 are still available to purchase at this current time.

Jun Senoue has released a second volume of his The Works series, appropriately titled The Works II.

This second solo album by Senoue features a whole host of SEGA-related songs that include work on the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Out Run and Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax.

SEGA-Inspired Racer Slipstream Now Live on Kickstarter

Developer Noctet Studio has launched the Kickstarter for the SEGA-inspired racing game Slipstream. Check out the campaign trailer below:

As you can see, the game is heavily influenced by games like Out Run, Super Hang-On and even things like Sonic 2 if you take a look at the casino-themed area. Noctet is only asking for $6000 and the game is due to release in March 2016.

If you’re interested you can click here and be taken straight to the Kickstarter. Early-bird pledges can grab a digital download for only $5 which is certainly worth a stab if you like arcade racers.

New Kotaku Article Sheds Light on Obscure 1989 Arcade Racer SEGA Super Circuit

A new article on Kotaku has revealed some interesting information about a 1989 SEGA arcade racing game called SEGA Super Circuit.

The 8 player racing game was located in the Tokyo Roof Complex in Yokohama and was controlled via altered Out Run cabinets that are hooked up to remote control cars with cameras attached to them. You can watch it in action below:

Not much information about its existence or what happened to it is available online so this is a very cool little oddity that deserves further exposure.

You can now grab the latest port of the SEGA AM2 arcade-driving classic from the 3DS eShop and we suggest that you do because M2 have done a marvelous job in making this the definitive version of the game (and it’s portable!). 3DS collection SEGA 3D Reprint Archives is launching on the 18th of December in Japan and now you can see gameplay of each game in the collection via this new trailer, direct from SEGA’s Japanese YouTube channel. Check it out below:

SEGA 3D Reprint Archives features 3D conversions of Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, Out Run, Ecco the Dolphin, Streets of Rage and Shinobi III as well as re-releases of the Master System 3D-glasses versions of Space Harrier and Out Run. The collection is currently Japan exclusive.

Above you will see the cover art for the new SEGA 3D classics collection SEGA 3D Reprint Archives. The game will be exclusive to Japan and will include the 3D ports of Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, Out Run, Ecco the Dolphin, Streets of Rage and Shinobi III that were released on the 3DS eShop.

What’s really interesting about the collection is the 2 new inclusions that are exclusive to the collection. Remastered ports of the Master System 3D versions of Space Harrier and Out Run will also be included. These games were originally released for SEGA’s 3-D Glasses peripheral that worked with the Master System. Only 8 games made use of the peripheral and this is the first time any of the games have received a port to another system.
