SEGA Tunes: Enduro Racer Gameplay Theme

Sunday, February 24th, 2013

Today’s SEGA Tunes feature is on the wonderful gameplay theme from SEGA’s Enduro Racer. We’re starting with the Master System version because quite simply it’s the better of the two:

For those of you that didn’t know, Enduro Racer started life as a parallax scrolling arcade racer similar to other SEGA racers like Hang-On. The difference here is that the game throws steep inclines and jumps at you to add some variety to the gameplay. The gameplay theme makes its’ first appearance here but the arcade version’s soundchip generally makes it sound a lot weaker than the Master System version:

Sadly we can’t seem to find any fan remixes of this gem, but if any of our readers would like to suggest some we will happily feature them on the next SEGA Tunes feature!

The arcade iteration of SEGA’s Japanese smash hit Hatsune Miku: Project Diva series is being location tested in a Round 1 arcade in Puente Hills, California.

The 2 machines are available for public play until March 18th. Hopefully this means SEGA has realised there’s huge Western appeal for this series and we might finally get to see it being localised for Western audiences.

Video Spotlight: Gameplay Trailers for Osharemajo Love and Berry Tsuushin

Friday, January 11th, 2013

How can you not like Japanese game development when they make games like this?

Osharemajo: Love and Berry Tsuushin is a Japanese arcade game that works with a series of trading cards. The game is aimed at girls between the ages of 6 and 12 and your first play gives you a card with a barcode which stores all your characters outfits, accessories and hairstyles. Once the characters are dressed the game then proceeds to a rhythm game where you tap a button in time with the tambourine on the screen.

SEGA of Japan have uploaded 2 gameplay trailers to their channel which show the rhythm segment in action:

Now get ready for some awesome clipping!
