Cancelled Vectorman 3 Concept Art Discovered

Tuesday, June 30th, 2015

vectorman3

Unseen 64 have unearthed concept art for a planned (but ultimately scrapped) third Vectorman game. The working title for the game was Vectorman 3: Ultra and it was in development for the SEGA Saturn by the original Blue Sky development team.

You can view the full gallery of concept art over at Unseen 64.

It’s also worth noting that this is a different Vectorman game than the one SEGA would later try and revive the franchise with. That game was a PS2 game that was being developed by Pseudo Interactive but this was eventually cancelled as well.

SEGA feat. Hatsune Miku Project: VR Tech Demo Revealed

Wednesday, June 17th, 2015

vrtechdemo

A Hatsune Miku VR demo has been revealed at E3. Currently working under the title SEGA feat. Hatsune Miku Project: VR Tech Demo, the PS4 and Project Morpheus-powered demo allows you to attend a virtual Hatsune Miku live show and shake a Move controller like a glow-stick. Thankfully there’s a little more to it than that and the experience generally takes the form of a simple rhythm game.

SEGAbits managed to grab some off-screen footage of the demo in action which you can watch below:

There is currently no confirmation as to whether this demo will be released to the public or even be developed into a full game. If we’re going to be honest, this just looks like the sort of thing Sony have commissioned in order to show off the abilities of Project Morpheus. Fingers crossed it actually develops into something more than that.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Revealed

Tuesday, June 9th, 2015

sonicboomfire

SEGA have revealed a new Sonic Boom game to be released later this year exclusively on 3DS. Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is a sequel to Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal and developed once again by Sanzaru Games. You can view the announcement trailer below:

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal were the worst selling Sonic games in the history of the franchise. I can only assume the reason for this follow-up is because SEGA has invested a lot in the cartoon and all the merchandising off-shoots that have followed. In all honesty I’m glad we’re getting a sequel to Shattered Crystal as it was the most playable of the two original Sonic Boom games. I would’ve preferred Streets of Rage 4 though.
