Transformers Collaborative: “Sonic the Hedgehog x Transformers” Figures Announced, Pre-Orders Start December 10th

Friday, December 6th, 2024

Hasbro have announced the latest series getting a crossover with the Transformers- and it’s none other than Sonic the Hedgehog, with a two-pack of new Autobots set to land in Summer 2025.

Transformers Collaborative: Sonic the Hedgehog x Transformers consists of an action-figure two-pack, featuring Autobot Blue Booster (based on Sonic’s car from Team Sonic Racing) and Autobot Wingtail (based on the Tornado). The robot modes are unsurprisingly robotic takes on Sonic and Tails themselves. Their official summary from Hasbro is as follows:

The worlds of TRANSFORMERS robots and Sonic the Hedgehog collide with the Sonic the Hedgehog x TRANSFORMERS mash-up pack! Inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog characters, these 5-inch action figures convert from robot to alt mode and feature accurate deco and details. The Blue Booster figure converts between robot and car mode in 27 steps. The Wingtail figure converts between robot and biplane mode in 32 steps. Comes with accessories including ring shield and jewel accessories for the Blue Booster figure, and a detachable engine thruster that becomes a blaster for the Wingtail figure.

The two-pack will go up for pre-order on December 10th. In America, this set will be exclusive to Target, with limited stock for Premium members of Hasbro’s Pulse store. In the UK it’s unlikely to be exclusive to any particular store, based on past trends. The pack will retail for $49.99, and launch in Summer 2025.

Catch the stylish trailer for the duo above, and then check out the plethora of high-res images sent over by SEGA below (after the jump!). Will you be picking up this collaborative set? Because we know we will! Sound off in the comments. (more…)

SEGA Sell Amplitude Studios, Developer Becomes Independent as a Result

Saturday, November 9th, 2024

SEGA have sold their stake in Humankind developer Amplitude Studios as a part of a management buyout. The studio has now become an independent and will thankfully continue to exist.

SEGA have made considerable lay-offs to staff internally as well as staff working at The Creative Assembly and SEGA Hardlight across 2024 as a part of their corporate restructure. It’s all a bit cold and uncaring for an industry that is reportedly one of the most successful entertainment mediums around nowadays.

Under SEGA, Amplitude developed Humankind, Endless Dungeon and Endless Space 2. The studio mainly specialised in strategy titles for a PC audience.

SEGADriven would like to wish everyone at Amplitude Studios our very best and hope the studio manage to continue their work and success as an independent.

SEGA Casually Announce a New Virtua Fighter is in Development in Interview With VGC

Friday, November 8th, 2024

Justin Scarpone, the current transmedia boss at SEGA, has casually dropped the news that SEGA are developing a new Virtua Fighter game in an interview with VGC.

When questioned about the challenge of reviving old franchises for modern audiences, Scarpone says the following:

“So we have a suite of titles in development right now that fall into that legacy bucket, which we announced last year at The Game Awards; Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and we have another Virtua Fighter being developed.”

While we have seen some in-game footage of the new Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio games, this is the first time SEGA have mentioned anything about a new Virtua Fighter game.

The last Virtua Fighter title to be released was the digital-only Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown for PS4 back in 2021. This was an expanded port of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown that was developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios using their Dragon Engine. The game was released for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers and amassed a very large playerbase as a result.

There is currently no further information about this new Virtua Fighter game at the time of writing. Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long to see the game formally announced with a trailer alongside some more information like what platforms it is heading to.

SEGA Announce Alien Isolation 2 Is In Early Development

Monday, October 7th, 2024

The Creative Assembly have taken to social media to announce that a follow-up to Alien Isolation is in the early stages of development. SEGA will once again handle publishing duties.

The original Alien Isolation released 10 years ago for PC, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4. The game is a first person horror title where you are play as Amanda Ripley, the daughter Ellen Ripley as you try to investigate your mother’s disapperance on the space station Sevastopol. While you’re doing this you are being constantly stalked by a xenomorph and have to carefully explore using stealth so you don’t alert the xenomorph.

There is currently no word on which platforms are being targeted for Alien Isolation 2 or when we can expect the game to release. As this initial announcement from The Creative Assembly is just to reveal the game is in early development, I can imagine we’ll be waiting a while before we get to see something some substantial for this title.
