Get Your First Look at Sonic’s Unobscured Face With Another “Leaked” Sonic Movie Poster

Thursday, December 13th, 2018

Another Sonic the Hedgehog movie poster has apparently leaked and it gives us a full look at Sonic’s face, unobscured by shadow.

However, this image leak is a little different in that the image comes from 2017, after the movie was greenlit and with a different cast. Case in point: Chris Pratt is featured on this poster instead of James Marsden.

There are some other differences to Sonic’s design as well. His shoes showcase a different design to the recent posters and his legs appear shorter.

It might be best to take this image with a pinch of salt as its difficult to trace a solid source. This could be an elaborate hoax. We will update this story as we clarify the details.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is due to release on the 26th of December 2019 in the UK. The film will be directed by Jeff Fowler, Ben Schwartz will voice Sonic the Hedgehog and Jim Carrey will play Dr. Robotnik.

See San Francisco from Sonic’s Crotch in New Sonic Movie Poster

Wednesday, December 12th, 2018

Another new poster for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been leaked online and it showcases a view of San Francisco from on top of the Golden Gate Bridge. Sonic’s eerily athletic legs are also showcased, along with his new footwear and lack of socks. A blue streak showing Sonic’s path to his eventual destination helps portray his speed.

It’s pretty safe to say that Sonic’s design in these two posters hasn’t exactly been met with open arms by the online community. The deviation from Sonic’s classic design hasn’t been popular with fans or even SEGA for that matter, who have been quoted as saying they weren’t happy with the design of Sonic’s eyes (which we have yet to see).

But it’s still early days for this movie. At the time of writing we haven’t seen a single teaser or trailer for the film, so it’s difficult to judge it on two images. It’ll certainly be interesting to see what everything looks like in motion.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is due to release on the 26th of December 2019 in the UK. The film will be directed by Jeff Fowler and also star Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik.

Forever Entertainment Announce Remakes of Panzer Dragoon I and II: Zwei

Monday, December 10th, 2018

In what can only be described as a surprise announcement, Forever Entertainment (responsible for titles such as Fear Effect: Sedna) have announced they are to co-create and publish remakes of SEGA classics Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon II: Zwei!

The remakes are planned to include a graphical overhaul and new gameplay features to better suit a modern audience, while maintaining the original story of the games. The first material from the game is planned to be shown in the coming months, with Panzer Dragoon: Remake planned to release in late 2019. The remakes are being produced in tandem with SEGA’s Japanese division.

We’ll keep you up to date when any further news comes out – it’s extremely exciting to see titles from the Saturn era getting some love, and in what sounds like a fairly nice package to boot.

The full press release is available here.

First Look at Sonic’s Appearance in the 2019 Sonic the Hedgehog Movie

Monday, December 10th, 2018

2019 is shaping up to be the year that our beloved video game heroes are making the jump to the big screen and now it’s Sonic’s turn. IGN have showcased the first poster for the film which shows off a lot of Sonic’s new design.

Sonic is a lot furrier than he has appeared before (very much in keeping with how the Pokemon look in Detective Pikachu), and he’s sporting a more traditional pair of red running shoes. He also appears to have a more athletic look with blue arms. He might not even be wearing gloves, but it might simply be a case that the lack of light in this image obscures a smaller pair of gloves than we’re used to seeing. While Sonic’s face is obscured in this image, IGN’s interview with Neal Moritz seems to suggest Sonic’s eyes will be separate instead of the more traditional ‘one eye with two pupils’.

The poster also features a tagline which reads, “A Whole New Speed of Hero”.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is due to release on the 8th of November 2019 in the US. The UK gets the film the following month on the 26th of December 2019. Ben Schwartz will voice Sonic the Hedgehog who befriends James Marsden’s Tom Wachowski character. Jim Carrey will also step into the role of Dr. Robotnik (not Eggman). The film will be directed by Jeff Fowler.

Judge Eyes Becomes Judgment in the West, English Voice Cast Confirmed

Saturday, December 8th, 2018

We’ve known that Yakuza spin-off Judge Eyes is coming to the West next year since the game was announced, but the game’s title was previously up for debate as it was using the temporary title of ‘Project Judge’ in previous promotional material. Well now the game has an official title and that title is ‘Judgment’.

Judgment will also feature an English voice cast for the first time in a Yakuza game since the original Yakuza back in 2006. It has also been confirmed that even though there is English voice work, the game will also ship with dual English/Japanese voice work. The subtitles are also different for the English script and the Japanese script with the subtitles for the Japanese script being more faithful to the original.

You can check out a brand new trailer below to hear the English voice work for yourself:

Judgment will launch exclusively for PS4 in Summer 2009. The game is being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.

Direct Feed Footage of SEGASonic Bros Running in MAME | Video Spotlight

Wednesday, December 5th, 2018

UPDATE
Neo Hazard has also shared some additional footage that shows that the music changes at level 40. At level 40 a tune many will recognise as the Blue Sphere theme starts to play, meaning that its creation predates Sonic the Hedgehog 3 by 2 years.

ORIGINAL POST
It appears that a version of the unreleased SEGASonic Bros arcade puzzler has finally been dumped and compiled for use in a modified version of MAME. The ROM hasn’t been made available at this time, but we do have the first direct feed footage of the game running below, courtesy of Neo Hazard at Sonic Retro:

This version of MAME that has been modified to run SEGASonic Bros was developed by GerbilSoft. There is currently no word on if this emulator or the ROM will be made public.
