Corey Marshall, famously known for his role as Ryo Hazuki in the Shenmue series has teased some voice acting work on an unspecified SEGA title.
The voice actor is pictured in the studio and then next to a SEGA banner of some sort. Speculation already points to Shenmue 3 (when doesn’t it), but could Ryo be making another cameo appearance in another SEGA title?
First 4 Figures have made it possible to pre-order the Ryo Hazuki figure. The 12″ tall statue costs $184.99 and is limited to only 350 figures worldwide. While there isn’t a firm release date at this time, First 4 Figures’ website lists “Q4 2013”.
Have you heard of Game Grumps yet? The YouTube game show features Jontron and Egoraptor sitting down together to play games and talk rubbish. While the concept has been done a million times before, Game Grumps manages to be a cut above the rest simply because the two men are so funny to listen to.
Most of the show has featured Nintendo games up until now. Now the pair are tackling Shenmue which is already producing some funny moments like Jontron losing his cool with the controls and Egoraptor singing along with the theme that plays in the Hazuki residence.
You can watch the first part below. Please be warned that Game Grumps features bad language and adult themes:
Gamerzines have apparently spilled the beans on HD ports of Shenmue 1 & 2. The ports have apparently been finished for a year with their release being held up until SEGA had a clearer picture of the future of the Shenmue franchise ie whether Shenmue 3 will actually see the light of day.
The ports will show up on X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network. No date has been given at this time. This is exciting news for Shenmue fans; not only are they getting HD versions of the original 2 games but it looks like plans are in place for a 3rd game as well. Happy days!
Tak Hirai who was the lead programmer on Space Channel 5 and Shenmue is making a rhythm game for the PS Vita called Orgarhythm. The game is being developed by Hirai’s Nelio studio which formed in September 2010.
Famitsu has said the game will blend strategy and music but full details are very scarce at this time. The game will also include co-operative and competitive multiplayer.
The SEGA Community Roundtable is back for another edition! This time our contributors discussed their favourite SEGA RPGs and it’s made for some brilliant reading.
Once again, a big thank you to all our contributors who made this article possible. The roundtable is becoming one of the most enjoyable things to collate and it’s fantastic to see what everyone has to say. What a diverse bunch you all are!
SEGA’s Ben Harbone may have just let slip that Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia will be coming to download services. In an interview with Gamesreactor, Harbone said “Those are a couple of our most requested games. I can’t say ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ but we may be working on them.” My mind actually cannot fathom how awesome Shenmue in widescreen HD would be!
Yu Suzuki is tugging at our heart-strings again. The man responsible for cult favourite RPG series Shenmue has announced through an interview at Shenmue Master that “Shenmue’s license is an IP that belongs to SEGA” and that “We can obtain the license from SEGA.”
Suzuki is clearly not going to rest until his series is complete. He even went on to reveal a major plot point that will be central to Shenmue III if it ever appears. Referring to an image that has been circulating the internet for some time that features the silhouette of an unknown charatcer, Suzuki said “This is the person who has trained with Iwao [Hazuki] in the olden days in China. Then, in the story that will take place after Shenmue II, he will become a “key” character!”
Fingers crossed that Suzuki is successful in his endevours!
