A new update for Sonic Dash has now gone live and it adds Classic Sonic as a playable character. Also included is a brand new Green Hill-themed area. A launch trailer is available to watch below:
Sonic Dash is available for Android and iOS mobile devices as a free-to-play application.
A complete CD soundtrack for Sonic Runners will launch in Japan on the 14th of September. This is a bizarrely odd decision considering the game’s servers are due to shut down imminently.
Regardless, the Tomoya Ohtani composed soundtrack will contain the following songs:
01. Beyond The Speed Of…
02. Fly Away
03. Power Ride
04. Theory Of Attack
05. Where To Today?
06. Going My Way!
07. Go Quickly!
08. Spring Emotions
09. Fiery Passion
10. End Of The Summer
11. Strange Parade
12. Magical Snow Day
13. Ambition
A long overdue update to Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 has finally arrived for iOS. We’ve had a quick muck around with the new version of the game this morning and found the following changes:
– Sonic’s character model is considerably more detailed and more closely resembles the home console versions (image comparisons below)
– All art assets are now of a much higher resolution which makes use of modern iOS retina displays. Menus and HUD items do still look a bit stretched
– The stage select screen now resembles the home console stage select screen that uses a map of Sonic’s world (image comparisons below)
– The gyro controls in the special stages are much smoother now
If you already own Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 for iOS, then you can get the game update from your App Store now.
Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom is now available to download on iOS devices worldwide.
The free-to-play endless runner is a sequel to Hardlight’s original Sonic Dash but now with some new abilities, branching paths and a visual connection to the Sonic Boom animated series. You can check out the launch trailer below and download the game from iOS by clicking here:
An Android release is also due but there’s no word on a release date outside of “coming soon”.
Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom will be launching on iOS and Android ‘soon’.
The game was previously soft-launched on Android devices in certain countries in a similar way to Sonic Runners, but now the game is ready for its full launch.
As the sequel to Sonic Dash, the game features similar endless running gameplay to the original but with new gimmicks such as using the enerbeam to lock onto sky-rails. The game also takes its visual cues from the Sonic Boom animated series.
The latest Sonic mobile title is a 2D endless runner, similar in scope to Pac-Man Dash and Rayman: Jungle Run. Sonic automatically runs through a Windy Hill-styled stage and you have to tap the screen to make him jump. That’s all there is to it.
SEGA will publish Picomy’s new mobile title Heroki. The game has been in development at the little Dutch studio for 5 years and is an action-adventure-flying game. You can check out a new trailer below:
Heroki will be launched as a “premium” title at $7.99 on the US app store. More on the EU pricing as we get it.
The worldwide launch date for Sonic Runners has finally been confirmed!
The iOS and Android downloadable endless-runner from Sonic Team will launch worldwide on June the 25th. The game had previously only been available in Canada and Japan from February this year.
Sonic Runners is free-to-play (AKA free-to-download with in-game microtransactions).
As a part of SEGA’s digital strategy, the publisher has now removed a series of mobile games from the iOS App Store, Google Play store, Samsung App Store and Amazon App Store that it has deemed as, “no longer meeting their standards”. The full list of titles can be viewed below:
– After Burner Climax
– Jet Set Radio
– Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2
– Super Monkey Ball Tip’n’Tilt 1 & 2
– Altered Beast
– Ecco the Dolphin
– Golden Axe 1, 2 & 3
– Phantasy Star II
– Streets of Rage 1 & 3
– Space Harrier II
– Virtua Fighter 2
If you have already purchased the games then SEGA has confirmed that they will remain re-downloadable but there will be no further support for them. This means that as OS and hardware updates occur, the games may become unplayable.
SEGA has confirmed that 20 new mobile titles are due to release in the future and they will be of, “console quality”.
The first teaser for Sonic Runners has been unleashed! The new teaser trailer doesn’t show any gameplay but it does take a short tour of Sonic’s history which is becoming quite a familiar sight if you’re used to Sonic reveal trailers. Check it out below:
If you click the image above you will also see the first insight into the game’s graphical style which seems to be based off Sonic Lost World. Characters also have that chunky, black outline with games like Sonic Jump have adopted.
Sonic Runners will launch on smartphones in Spring 2015. It is still unclear whether this is a Japan exclusive title.
