The game is a brand new adventure in the Space Channel 5 series, seeing Ulala return to her reporting duties alongside a slew of new characters. SEGA AGES Puyo Puyo Tsu for Nintendo Switch Comes West on February 20th… alongside SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2!

Thursday, February 6th, 2020

UPDATE

SEGA has now confirmed the Feburary 20th release date for Puyo Tsu in the West, with another surprising detail – Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s AGES release will launch on the same day!

This is the first time an AGES release has had it’s Western release in-line with the Japanese versions since launch, so it’s great news. AGES Sonic 2 will include the extra modes from the 3DS version, as well as Knuckles in Sonic 2 and the Drop Dash from Sonic Mania.

ORIGINAL STORY

Back in January, Puyo Puyo Tsu joined the SEGA AGES lineup on Nintendo Switch over in Japan. The good news is Western players won’t have to wait much longer to get their Puyo fix; as the port will be coming westwards on February 20th.

The information comes from a listing on the Nintendo eShop’s “Coming Soon” section, stating the ‘planned release’ date is 20/02/2020. For those unaware, this is a port of the arcade version, with a slew of extra features including online multiplayer, an endurance mode in which you fight every single opponent in a row, and even options to assist colourblind players. It’ll be £5.99, as with the other AGES ports.

SEGA AGES: Fantasy Zone & SEGA AGES: Shinobi Come West January 23rd for Nintendo Switch

Thursday, January 9th, 2020

The most recent games in M2’s SEGA AGES lineup for Nintendo Switch, Fantasy Zone and Shinobi, finally have Western release dates. You’ll be able to get your hands on them on January 23rd.

Both games will cost £5.99, and include a slew of upgrades over their original incarnations. Fantasy Zone has all of the added content from the 3DS version, as well as an overhauled HUD akin to M2’s ShotTriggers lineup. Shinobi has a rewind feature that’s been improved over its implementation in previous AGES titles, and the AGES mode has benefits such as Joe being able to take more than one hit, and use his melee attack with a button rather than context-sensitivity. He also has his white garb from the later titles, as a cool nod for longtime fans.

As for Japan, SEGA AGES Puyo Tsu is next in line – but when is anyone’s guess. An announcement that it was available went out on the Nintendo Switch’s News app yesterday, but… it’s not actually out. Perhaps next week?

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD Coming to Steam on December 10th

Thursday, December 5th, 2019

There’s not much longer to wait for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD’s Steam release – because it’s actually out next week!

The game’s Steam page now confirms a launch date of December 10th. And to sweeten the deal, there’ll be a 20% off deal on the game until December 17th, putting the price at £19.99 (down from £24.99). For those unaware, Banana Blitz is a remake of the first Nintendo Wii outing for the series, but with 100% less motion controls. Party games have also been slimmed down to a more curated selection, level design has been tweaked to suit the new controls better, and perhaps most notably there’s a new unlockable character in the form of Sonic the Hedgehog. The Steam version will also seemingly add features, such as a Photo Mode.
