Someone has gone and made a tech demo of Sonic running about in Unreal Engine 4. It’s a very early test with collision issues and some odd moments where Sonic runs on the spot but it’s certainly a technically impressive thing. Check it out:
However I couldn’t help but be reminded of a certain trailer for a certain game that I’d rather forget:
The first trailer for 7th Dragon III: code:VFD has gone live. You can check it out below:
As we previously learned, the opening theme is called Annabel and it’s by Vocaloid artist sasakure.UK. What we failed to pick up on is the fact Yuzo Koshiro has signed on for the game’s soundtrack which is pretty exciting news for fans of his work.
7th Dragon III: code:VFD launches in Japan on the 15th of October exclusively for 3DS. There is no word on a Western release and it’ll be unlikely that we get one seeing as the previous games have all been Japan exclusive.
SEGA have conducted a 3 part interview with Toshihiro Nagoshi and Masayoshi Yokoyama, the director and producer of Yakuza 5. In the interview they discuss Yakuza 5’s theme and answer questions from the fans:
Yakuza 5 launches in the West in the 4th quarter of this year.
On August 27th, Japan will get a DVD release of the Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza) stage play and there’s now a trailer for it below. Some of the actors playing each character are incredibly well chosen (Majima looks amazing) and the whole thing looks really authentic:
Imagine going to the theater and watching the yakuza have a big punch-up. Amazing.
Eurogamer have cornered The Creative Assembly for a chat about Total War: Warhammer. It doesn’t really share much we don’t already know but CA have confirmed the existence of another historical Total War game. Inevitable, really. You can watch the interview in full below:
Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX is fast approaching (it releases on May 29th) and there’s now a massive 12 and a half minute trailer to sink your teeth into. Check it out below:
There is also news of some of the new features in Project Mirai DX which includes an option to build your own custom playlists and the option to spend play coins on in-game items like helper and challenge items. The previously revealed Puyo Puyo mini-game (which can be played against CPU and friends via local connectivity) is also joined by a Reversi mini-game.
The first gameplay footage of 3D Streets of Rage 2 has been revealed and guess what? It looks like Streets of Rage 2 in 3D! Watch the gameplay footage below:
3D Streets of Rage 2 launches on the 3DS eShop in July. It will be followed by the release of 3D Gunstar Heroes and 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is a game we probably want to forget about at this point, but this demo reel from animator Tuan Nguyen shows the game’s environment looking considerably more fleshed-out. This footage comes from an earlier build of the game that featured more dense foliage. Check it out below:
If I was to hazard a guess as to why these details were paired back for the console release then I’d say it was because the Wii-U simply can’t handle it. It’s also worth noting that Rise of Lyric is the first Wii-U game powered by CryEngine 3 so Big Red Button were probably breaking a lot of new ground and learning as they went.
Total War: Warhammer is finally official! The worst kept secret at The Creative Assembly is now ready to see the light of day thanks to the below reveal trailer. Sadly the whole thing is a cinematic trailer so there’s no actual gameplay to be seen at the moment. Regardless, you can watch the trailer below:
The game will allow you to command, “gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes and storms of magical power”. Sounds fun!
No release date has currently been revealed other than an ominous, “coming soon” at the end of the trailer. Hopefully that means a 2015 release.
The latest trailer for Imageepoch’s Stella Glow has arrived and it features some of the most detailed gameplay footage of the game so far. The game plays similarly to the Nobunaga’s Ambition series which means the standard RPG combat is paired with strategy elements. Check out the 6 minute trailer below:
Stella Glow is released on the 4th of June on 3DS. The game is currently Japan exclusive but Atlus have confirmed a North American release for later this year. There is no word on a European version at this time.
