It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything regarding the Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX remake by Merge Games, so it’s extremely exciting to hear that it’s finally got a release date of June 24th 2021. You can check out the latest trailer for the game below:

A new update is now available for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, adding yet another batch of characters to the roster. In particular, we get some real fan-favourites in this wave; Yuu & Rei, Possessed Klug, Serilly, and Rafisol. They bring with them 3 new music tracks, and 20 icons for your online profile.
In addition, you can now adjust colour options including saturation, as a means of improving accessibility, and the previously single-player only Challenge Modes can now be played in multiplayer too! While not specifically mentioned on SEGA’s end, we’ve also been informed that some of the game’s lag issues have been cleared up now too, which is much appreciated.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2’s first major update has been released, and it brings along with it 4 new characters. Alongside fan-favourite characters such as Lidelle, Ms Accord and Ocean Prince from the Puyo Puyo Fever titles, Sonic the Hedgehog himself has joined the Puyo Tetris battlefield – and it’s not a mod this time!
Other additions include a raid-style boss battle mode, inspired by a similar feature in Puyo Puyo Chronicle. You can earn Skill Battle cards not available through Adventure Mode by teaming up with other players to take on boss characters. Speaking of Skill Battle, the Sonic-themed cards have now been added into the main game, too.
There’s also four new music tracks, to go along with the new characters; including Tropical Resort, from Sonic Colours.
This… certainly came out of nowhere. We suspect this is what SEGA Europe were teasing for tomorrow’s stream, in which case they weren’t kidding about it being special. Currently only the Japanese announcement is available, but our Playstation 4 downloaded the new update, and Sonic and company are indeed present and accounted for.

SEGA Forever continue their franchise retrospective series on YouTube with an in depth look at the entire Streets of Rage series. It’s a very interesting little piece that even makes mention of the 8 bit ports and the failed franchise revival from 1999. Check it out via the video embed below:
Forever Entertainment’s currently Nintendo Switch exclusive Panzer Dragoon Remake will finally be making the jump to other systems, as it has been confirmed that a Playstation 4 and PC version of the game is ‘coming soon’. The PC version will be available via both Steam and Good Old Games (GOG).

During a Reddit AMA, Dotemu confirmed that Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games are working on additional content for Streets of Rage 4. There is currently no release window set in stone, but the publisher responded to the question of, “will you add content to Streets of Rage 4?” with the following:
“YES, we will but there is no ETA. You guys are awesome and deserve the best so give us time to do things right.”
Streets of Rage 4 released on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch back in April 2020.
The latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase has announced Puyo Puyo Tetris 2: The Ultimate Puzzle Match. It’ll be coming to a slew of consoles: Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The game is a direct sequel to the first Puyo Puyo Tetris, and will include a brand new Adventure Mode with a new Story, as well as new characters.
As well as the standard Puyo (and Tetris) fare, there’ll also be new modes, such as “Skill Battle” (which actually originated in Puyo Puyo Chronicle on 3DS). This mode will involve ‘Skill Cards’ – you can get some skill cards as a pre-order bonus for the game, including some based on Sonic the Hedgehog.

A new trailer has been released for Yakuza: Like a Dragon’s upcoming Western release, showcasing the ‘Job’ system. The game allows you to spec into 19 different jobs, that affect not only your abilities and fighting style, but your appearance too. So if you feel like kicking people with the power of dance, you can do that – likewise, you can hit them around the head with a scalding frying pan as a Chef.
Crucially, the new trailer also reveals when Western players will finally get their hands on RGG Studio’s latest; November 13th, for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam. The Xbox Series X version is set to launch at some point in November, presumably on or around the as-of-yet unconfirmed launch date of the console, and at an unspecified later time for Playstation 5.

Revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase, a brand new expansion for Phantasy Star Online 2 called New Genesis will launch worldwide for PC, Xbox One and Xbox One Series X in Spring 2021.
For North American players, Phantasy Star Online 2 is still a PC and Xbox One exclusive, but this new expansion will be launching on all currently supported platforms in Japan as well. These include Nintendo Switch and PS4, but only in Japan. You can watch the reveal trailer below:
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis promises “limitless adventure and unparalleled character customization”. The expansion will launch in Spring 2021. A European release for Phantasy Star Online 2 is still unconfirmed.
SEGA has confirmed that Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be making its way to Playstation 5 some time after its release on PS4 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X. SEGA are currently making plans for PS4 owners to be able to upgrade to the PS5 version once it becomes available.
That’s arguably not the biggest news however, as Yakuza: Like a Dragon will also be receiving an English dub; the first time the series has done so since the PS2 days. Even more surprising, is that beloved actor George Takei will be lending his vocal chords to the game as Masumi Arakawa. Kaiji Tang will play protagonist Ichiban Kasuga.
Also revealed was a pre-order bonus. The Legends Costume Pack allows you to dress up the characters as those from previous Yakuza games, just in case you can’t let go of Kiryu’s iconic suit.
