Alien Isolation Port Heading to Switch Later in 2019

Tuesday, June 11th, 2019

During the wrap-up of Nintendo’s E3 Direct, casual mention of an Alien Isolation port to the Nintendo Switch was revealed.

While no in-game footage was shown, this port is due to release later in 2019 as a digital-only eShop title. Alien Isolation was originally developed by The Creative Assembly for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One and released in 2014 to critical acclaim. It will likely be the last Alien game developed by SEGA after they lost the rights to the franchise, which have now reverted back to 20th Century Fox and its video games division.

6 New SEGA Ages Titles Coming to Switch

Saturday, March 30th, 2019

A fresh batch of SEGA Ages titles have been revealed for Nintendo Switch at SEGA Fes. There’s a heavy focus on SEGA’s arcade history with these announcements – 5 of the 6 titles are all arcade ports.

The revealed games are:

– Shinobi (arcade)
– Puzzle & Action Ichidant-R (arcade)
– G-LOC Air Battle (arcade)
– Herzog Zwei (Mega Drive)
– Fantasy Zone (arcade)
– Wonder Boy in Monster Land (arcade)

Herzog Zwei is an interesting inclusion as it marks another instance of SEGA drawing on Technosoft’s library of games, which SEGA acquired in 2016.

There is currently no word on release dates for any of these titles. We are still expecting SEGA Ages ports of Sonic 2, Puyo Puyo 2, Virtua Racing, Thunder Force AC, Columns 2 and Space Harrier. These will likely release before the newly announced titles.

Virtua Racing is Coming to Nintendo Switch Under the SEGA Ages Header

Sunday, September 23rd, 2018

Virtua Racing hasn’t received a home console port since the PS2 remake that was included in the SEGA Classics Collection and SEGA Ages 2500 line in 2004. Once again, M2 will be handling development duties but there is currently no set release date.

See below for the first screenshots of Virtua Racing in action on the Switch:

SEGA Mega Drive Classics Heading to Switch Winter 2018

Tuesday, September 18th, 2018

The SEGA Mega Drive Classics collection that launched on PC, PS4 and Xbox One back in May is finally heading to Nintendo Switch this Winter 2018.

While Western release dates for the individual SEGA Ages titles for Switch that are currently releasing in Japan this month are still up in arms, this announcement should satisfy SEGA fans looking to bring a nice collection of Mega Drive titles with them anywhere.

SEGA Mega Drive Classics features 53 Mega Drive games to play, a 90s bedroom presentation and a whole host of challenges to complete for each game. You can check out our review of the PS4 version to get a good idea of what to expect in the Switch port.

Columns II, Sonic 2, Out Run & Thunder Force AC Heading to Switch

Wednesday, September 12th, 2018

Weekly Famitsu have revealed that the next batch of SEGA Ages titles to release on Switch will include Columns II, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Out Run and more interestingly, Thunder Force AC. Thunder Force AC is a weird little title in that it’s an arcade port of Thunder Spirits for SNES. Thunder Spirits itself is also an altered port of Thunder Force III for Mega Drive.

The only new features revealed at this time are that Columns II is getting an online versus mode, while Out Run will featured newly arranged music tracks. There are currently no screenshots, video or release dates set for these titles at this time.

The SEGA Ages line for Nintendo Switch is still currently Japan exclusive. Development on these ports is lead by M2 who previously worked on the SEGA Ages ports to 3DS.
