All of a sudden, Sonic Lost World is no longer a Wii U exclusive and is now on its way to PC!
Sonic Team’s latest Sonic outing can now be pre-ordered on Steam for £19.99 and you also get a free copy of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (this will only be available during pre-order). The game officially launches on November 2nd.
This is great news for PC Sonic fans as SEGA’s PC ports are generally very well handled and in the case of Sonic Generations, they also open up wonderful modding opportunities.
Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom will be launching on iOS and Android ‘soon’.
The game was previously soft-launched on Android devices in certain countries in a similar way to Sonic Runners, but now the game is ready for its full launch.
As the sequel to Sonic Dash, the game features similar endless running gameplay to the original but with new gimmicks such as using the enerbeam to lock onto sky-rails. The game also takes its visual cues from the Sonic Boom animated series.
Yellow Bulldog have begun pre-orders on a new Sonic Christmas jumper design and unlike the one that was released last year, this is actually a proper knitted jumper design instead of just a print that was made to look like a knitted design.
The jumper is £34.99 and shipping will begin on the 24th of October. Click here to go to the item page on Yellow Bulldog and slap down a pre-order if you’re interested in looking like a bit of a tit (yes I understand that is the point of Christmas jumpers, calm down).
1991 Japan-exclusive Sonic arcade game Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car has finally been dumped and can now be emulated in MAME. This also means that high quality footage of the game is now available to watch below. Check it out:
Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car is more like those children’s sit-in “rides” you often see in shopping centres and it never made its way out of Japan despite the existence of an English version. It is widely rumoured that the English version was used in markets where tourism was more popular. Sonic is voiced by Takeshi Kusao who would also voice Sonic in another arcade exclusive Sonic game, the infamous SegaSonic the Hedgehog.
In what has to be a first for the Sonic franchise, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will be delayed until 2016 so the game can be improved and fine-polished. There is currently no exact release date in 2016 other than, “it’ll be ready when it’s ready”.
The Sonic franchise is not well known for delays and generally when a release date is set for a game then it gets delivered in whatever state it’s in at the time. This has resulted in some pretty lackluster efforts like Sonic the Hedgehog ’06 and even last year’s Sonic Boom games Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal.
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice was due to release on 3DS in quarter four this year and this delay marks one of the few occasions I feel a delay can really benefit a game. The Sonic franchise deserves more great entries and rush-releasing games has never been good practice for the blue blur. Fingers crossed Fire & Ice turns into a worthy entry in the franchise whenever it is that we next see it.

The Heart of Gaming, an arcade that operates out of North Acton, London will be home to a working version of SegaSonic the Hedgehog Arcade very soon.
The team who run the arcade have managed to acquire a board for the game and are working on a cabinet to house it. The board is a strange one in that it includes a “suicide” battery which is installed to regualate repairs and distribution as the game was only ever distributed properly in Japanese markets.
A few cabinets made their way West with one being available in the Trocadero in Picadilly Circus and another in London’s flagship Hamleys store. This will be the first time the machine has been playable on the correct hardware in a London arcade for close to 20 years.
SegaSonic the Hedgehog Arcade is a 3 player, trackball, action game released in 1993. More updates on this machine as we learn more about the game’s availability at The Heart of Gaming.
