Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World Gets a New Trailer, Q2 2021 Release Window

Monday, January 25th, 2021

The upcoming remake of Monster World IV, Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World, has received a new trailer and a fresh round of details to go along with it.

The trailer is notable as is showcases a fair improvement over the previous ones; Asha’s animations appear to have been reworked, and on the whole it looks a bit nicer( you can also search about photorealistic animation here)The latest press release makes particular mention that the developers have been taking on feedback, and given the frosty reception to the initial showings, it’s sure looking like it.

The trailer also gives us more of the Japanese voice acting being added to the game, as well as a new Q2 2021 release window. There’s also a reaffirmation that physical copies of the game will include the original Mega Drive title on a separate cartridge for Nintendo Switch, and as a download for PS4; Gematsu reports that this version will now be available at retail, whereas previously it seemed like it’d be exclusive to Strictly Limited, with only 3000 copies being made.

Japan has received a more solid release date of April 22nd, and will also be getting physical versions; their Special Pack will include two artbooks.

Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is launching for Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 later this year.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Content Update Available Today, Adds Sonic The Hedgehog And Several Other Characters, Raid Battle Mode

Thursday, January 14th, 2021

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2’s first major update has been released, and it brings along with it 4 new characters. Alongside fan-favourite characters such as Lidelle, Ms Accord and Ocean Prince from the Puyo Puyo Fever titles, Sonic the Hedgehog himself has joined the Puyo Tetris battlefield – and it’s not a mod this time!

Other additions include a raid-style boss battle mode, inspired by a similar feature in Puyo Puyo Chronicle. You can earn Skill Battle cards not available through Adventure Mode by teaming up with other players to take on boss characters. Speaking of Skill Battle, the Sonic-themed cards have now been added into the main game, too.

There’s also four new music tracks, to go along with the new characters; including Tropical Resort, from Sonic Colours.

This… certainly came out of nowhere. We suspect this is what SEGA Europe were teasing for tomorrow’s stream, in which case they weren’t kidding about it being special. Currently only the Japanese announcement is available, but our Playstation 4 downloaded the new update, and Sonic and company are indeed present and accounted for.

Wonder Boy: Asha In Monster World Physical Editions Announced, All Editions Include Original Mega Drive Version

Thursday, December 17th, 2020

Upcoming Monster World IV remake Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World will be getting a few physical editions of varying complexity, from Strictly Limited Games.

The contents of each pack vary; there’s the regular edition which simply gets you a physical copy of the game for either Nintendo Switch or Playstation 4 (there is no physical option for the PC version), followed by the Collector’s Edition which comes with the entire kitchen sink – including your very own squishable Pepelogoo. Finally there’s the Mega Collector’s Edition, which has the contents of the CE as well as some more extras on top; including a sticker, pin badge, and even an exclusive statue of Asha and Pepelogoo.

Most notably though, all physical versions will include the original Mega Drive version of Monster World IV, ported to the respective platform. For Switch owners, it’ll be included on the cartridge, while PS4 owners will receive a download code for the MD title.

According to Gematsu,  pre-orders will open later today. They also have a detailed run-down of what each edition contains. If you want one you’ll have to act though; even the regular edition is limited.

Persona 5 Strikers Officially Announced For The West, Releases for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and Steam on February 23rd 2021

Tuesday, December 8th, 2020

If you’re looking for the largest range of league of legends accounts for sale then you have to visit this site https://www.unrankedsmurfs.com/. They have hundreds of lol accounts with rare skins for sale, as well as plenty of lol smurf accounts for various regions. If you want to buy league of legends account for your friends to play on the rift then be sure to check out their account store. With hundreds of level 30 League of Legends accounts for sale, there is no better place to buy your LoL accounts online than Unranked Smurfs with its excellent buyer protections and payment security, as well as full account information provided with every order.

Persona 5 Strikers, knowing as Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers in Japan, has finally had a Western release confirmed. Better yet, it’ll also be coming to PC via Steam now!

Produced by Koei-Tecmo’s Omega Force, what we have here is essentially Persona 5 Musou. The game acts as a sequel to the original game (that is, the not-Royal version), to the point one of the Japanese trailers briefly flashed “P52” on the screen. Now the Phantom Thieves are tasked with helping an aggressive detective solve a new mystery, or Joker will be arrested… again. It’s certainly an interesting genre shift for a sequel, but Persona 5 Strikers seems to push the boat out a lot more than just being a typical Warriors game with the P5 license slapped on. We’re excited to get our hands on it!

The game will launch on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC via Steam on February 23rd 2021. There’ll also be a Steelbook for the game, but right now it appears that will be exclusive to Best Buy in America, and only available for the Nintendo Switch version. The Digital Deluxe version of the game allows you to play it 4 days early, and includes extra DLC content, a 40-track soundtrack, a digital artbook, and behind-the-scenes video.

The game’s website is available here.

SEGA Releases 2 New Sonic Double-Packs for Nintendo Switch In North America

Tuesday, October 27th, 2020

SEGA has launched two new combo packs for the Nintendo Switch in North America, both including a selection of Sonic games – or at the very least, games featuring Sonic.

One pack gives you the sublime Sonic Mania (seemingly without the Plus DLC, oddly) and Team Sonic Racing. There’s also a pack that pairs up Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD (which featured Classic Sonic as an unlockable character) and Sonic Forces.

The packs are available for $39.99 each. The PR we received doesn’t mention a European release (seeing as this comes straight from SEGA of America’s Sonic PR), but given previous packs have released on our shores we’d expect these will be showing up too.

Darius Cozmic Revelation’s Ebten DX Pack Will Include A Physical Version of the Mega Drive Port Seen on the Mega Drive Mini, Switch/PS4 Code for Prime Day Pre-Orders

Friday, October 9th, 2020

Taito have revealed the various editions of the upcoming Darius: Cozmic Revelation bundle, which includes G-Darius HD and Darius Burst Another Chronicle EX+ for Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It wouldn’t be a modern Taito re-release if there weren’t a bunch of extremely confusing differences across each version though, and none are more important here than the ‘Famitsu DX Pack’.

The ebten store version of the Famitsu DX Pack will include a physical cartridge version of ‘Darius Extra Version’, a Mega Drive port of Darius. If that sounds familiar, it’s because said port was actually included on the Mega Drive Mini!

Meanwhile, anyone who pre-orders the game from midnight October 13th to midnight October 15th (a 48 hour period) via Amazon will get a special ‘Prime Day’ bonus – a download code for the Mega Drive version of Darius that you can use on Nintendo Switch or Playstation 4. It’s currently not clear whether this will be released separately down the road, but looking at Taito’s history of locking entire games within collections behind pre-orders bonuses, we wouldn’t exactly hold our breath.

Sadly, Strictly Limited’s Western physical release makes no mention of the Mega Drive version in either download code or physical form; but we’ll update if this suddenly changes.

Darius Cozmic Revelation will be released February 25th 2021 in Japan. Strictly Limited’s version is expected to ship in June or July.

SEGA AGES: Herzog Zwei is Out Now on the Western Nintendo Switch eShop

Thursday, September 24th, 2020

SEGA AGES: Herzog Zwei is now available to purchase in the West for the Nintendo Switch. It’ll set you back £5.99.

This port of the pioneering Mega Drive Real-Time Strategy game from Thunder Force creators Technosoft boasts a slew of new features, intended to ease those unfamiliar with the game or RTS in general into the swing of things. You can customise a number of game parameters to your liking, and there’s a new in-depth tutorial to go through the basics; an extremely charming one, and is frequently cracks jokes about other games in the AGES line, and about just how amazing giant transforming mechs are.

Herzog Zwei is the final release in the SEGA AGES line, but M2 are at TGS to discuss upcoming projects such as the recently announced Aleste Collection. Whether we’ll see what they and SEGA might be up to next remains to be seen.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2: The Ultimate Puzzle Match Announced, Coming December 8th to Current and Next-Gen Consoles

Wednesday, August 26th, 2020

The latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase has announced Puyo Puyo Tetris 2: The Ultimate Puzzle Match. It’ll be coming to a slew of consoles: Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The game is a direct sequel to the first Puyo Puyo Tetris, and will include a brand new Adventure Mode with a new Story, as well as new characters.

As well as the standard Puyo (and Tetris) fare, there’ll also be new modes, such as “Skill Battle” (which actually originated in Puyo Puyo Chronicle on 3DS). This mode will involve ‘Skill Cards’ – you can get some skill cards as a pre-order bonus for the game, including some based on Sonic the Hedgehog.

The game’s official website can be found here.

Japanese PR Released for Wonder Boy – Asha in Monster World, States It’s a Remake of Monster World IV Using 3D Graphics, Also Coming to Steam

Wednesday, August 26th, 2020

Just the other day, Wonder Boy – Asha in Monster World was announced. Upon its reveal, it was billed as a new title with the involvement of the original Westone staff, and the logo seen on the game’s mailing list page (above) also suggested Asha was finally getting a new adventure.

However, Artdink have now launched their own PR for the game to Japanese outlets (under their ‘G-CHOICE’ imprint), with a slightly different story. Apparently with Unlimited Graphic Design, the game will actually be a full remake of Monster World IV, using 3D graphics and voice acting. The game is however planned to feature new game modes (that is being enhanced at the Animation Studio), and will be available in a multitude of languages – Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Chinese are all listed as being included by Famitsu.

Also of note is that they list a platform that wasn’t mentioned in the English announcement – the game is planned to be released on PC via Steam, as well as the previously confirmed PS4 and Nintendo Switch releases.

It’s somewhat of a shame given how exciting the idea of a new game starring Asha was, but Monster World IV is a very good game – so hopefully this remake will do it justice. It’s that, or it’s actually Famitsu who’ve gotten it wrong – but time will tell come Saturday, where the game is set to be revealed at Gamescom.

SEGA AGES Herzog Zwei Lands on the Japanese Nintendo Switch eShop on August 27th

Tuesday, August 25th, 2020

The SEGA AGES release of Technosoft’s cult-hit Mega Drive RTS Herzog Zwei finally has a release date, and it’s this week! The game will launch on the Japanese Nintendo Switch eShop on August 27th. We suspect the Western release won’t be too far behind, but there’s no solid confirmation on that front yet.

As usual, this isn’t just a straight port. New features include online multiplayer, an expanded HUD not too dissimilar to the HUDs of M2’s ShotTriggers line, an automatic password save function, helper options, and a new ‘Academy’ tutorial mode. Just in case you’ve ever wanted a cute anime girl to teach you how to play Herzog Zwei. As let slip by the recent Herzog soundtrack release, there’s also a new music track from chibi-tech in there, who you may know for their many other amazing contributions to M2 projects.

Sadly, this is currently where the SEGA AGES for Nintendo Switch lineup ends. There’s currently no more games scheduled for release after this, so now we’ll just have to wait and see if more end up being in the pipeline. We certainly hope there are – Power Drift on Switch is something we’re not sure I can live without.

The Japanese webpage for the game is available here.
