SEGA have revealed that Playsport Games’ F1 management sim Motorsport Manager will launch on PC, Mac and Linux this September.
Previously available on mobile platforms, the game has been rebuilt from the ground up to make use of the extra hardware grunt that PCs can offer and it’s a considerably more feature-rich and prettier experience as a result.
Now here’s an interesting little development (even if it is only slightly related to SEGA)!
Key developers behind Mega-CD and Saturn game ‘Snatcher’ have joined forces to create a new Japanese adventure game called Blakemore. The game is set in a steampunk, alternate universe version of London.
The game is being directed by Jeremy Blaustein, the man responsible for the English-language version of Snatcher on Mega-CD (this has been the only time the game was ever available in English). Art is being handled by Satoshi Yoshioka who worked as the character designer on the original Snatcher and music is being handled by Motoaki Furukawa who did the soundtrack for the original Snatcher.
Snatcher is famous for being Hideo Kojima’s second ever game and features some small references to Metal Gear. Curiously, David Hayter is being brought on board for Blakemore (famous for voicing Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid) to voice one of the characters.
If you’re interested in helping the development of Blakemore you can back the game on Kickstarter. The game is due for release on PC and MAC in early 2015. Click here to go straight to the Kickstarter page.
For the first time in the series’ history, the new Football Manager title will be released on the Linux operating system. This version joins a Windows and Mac released which are all expected before the end of the year.
Also confirmed for the series is the ability to use cloud saving so you can access your save game wherever you are.
Road Rash spiritual successor Road Redemption is being ported to Wii-U. The game is still looking for Kickstarter funding which you can take part in by clicking here.
Also detailed are RPG-esque details which are included in the single player campaign:
“As you complete missions, you earn cash for the bike shop, where you unlock new bikes with better stats, as well as have the opportunity to customize elements of your current bike, such as its color. You are able to upgrade and recruit new gang members who ride with you on missions, as well as improve your own character by buying new equipment to boost your stats such as better helmets, weapons and other equipment. Of course, some equipment can only be earned by playing certain missions.
There is also a skill system tied to experience earned by playing missions.
There will never be any in-game real money purchases in Road Redemption.”
The Road Redemption Kickstarter ends in 18 days and at the time of writing Dark Seas Games have raised $57,914 of their $160,000 goal.
Road Redemption has been announced as a spiritual successor to Road Rash and even features ex SEGA development staff among its’ team at DarkSeas.
A $15 pledge gets you a DRM free version of the game on PC, Mac or Linux with a projected release date of July 2014. You can access the project’s Kickstarter by clicking here.
