The game comes in a similar format to the XBLA/PSN versions by including enhanced HD graphics but also including the function to change the graphics and resolution to the original SEGA Saturn version. The expansion game Christmas NiGHTS is also included. The game was developed by Spiral Knights developers Three Rings. The game is a fantasy themed take on the Scrabble/Words With Friends formula and is available for $1.99 in the US and £1.49 in the UK. Follow on Bluesky @sonicyoda SEGA and Creative Assembly Announce Partnership With Games Workshop to Create Warhammer GamesThursday, December 6th, 2012SEGA and The Creative Assembly have announced a partnership with Games Workshop that will allow them to develop Warhammer-themed video games. Tim Heaton, the Studio Director at The Creative Assembly said, “With this year being our 25th anniversary it seems fitting for us to embark on such a dream project with such a well-established partner. The incredibly rich and detailed Warhammer world is something we grew up with, and has left an indelible imprint on us as both designers and gamers. We’ll be doing the Warhammer universe justice in a way that has never been attempted before. We’re bringing those 25 years of experience and expertise in extremely high-scoring games to bear, delivering a Warhammer experience that videogamers will absolutely love.” An untitled Warhammer game will now be under development by The Creative Assembly along with Total War: Rome II and an untitled Alien game. It will now go live on December 7th along with the physical release. ORIGINAL STORY The PS Vita version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has just been launched on the PSN store. The game is available to purchase and download for £34.99 in the UK. A physical release is expected on Friday. The product listing reveals the following features: – Ad Hoc Mode 2-8 Players There’s no word at this time what the motion sensor and touchscreen are used for but I’m guessing the motion sensor is used as an alternative control scheme (tilt to steer). The titles are available on XBLA and PSN for 400MSP and $4.99 respectively. UK pricing is £3.69 per game and European pricing is €4.49. Additional features include widescreen support and the inclusion of “lost” character Honey the Cat in Sonic the Fighters. A Western release is expected at midnight tonight. The iOS version will be available for £2.99 in the UK and $4.99 in the US. This version is controlled through virtual controls as iOS devices don’t have buttons. You can also take photos and use them as in-game graffiti tags. Follow on Bluesky @sonicyoda YouTube Users with Shining Force III Content Being Targeted for Copyright InfringementTuesday, November 20th, 2012In a bizarre turn of events, certain YouTube users who have content featuring SEGA Saturn classic Shining Force III are being targeted for copyright infringement. Their videos and in some cases their channels are being removed and the people being targeted are usually those hosting translated content from part 2 and 3 which were never released in the West. One user MarauderEx who had his channel taken down contacted SEGA and got the following response: “Hello, we never give explicit permission to use our intellectual property. However, in cases like this we tend not to take action unless we or our products are slandered in the derivative works. Best Regards, SEGA Customer Support.” As MarauderEx’s material didn’t contain slander (along with users TotalBiscuit and synbios16) some are questioning the authenticity of the accusation. The claim comes from an unnamed person with a “legit” email address and is named in some SEGA games in a “special thanks” section but not in Shining Force III. More on this as we get it. Follow on Bluesky @sonicyoda Jet Set Radio Coming to Mobile Devices and PS Vita This MonthTuesday, November 13th, 2012 Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio is getting a portable release on iOS and Android mobile devices as well as PS Vita this month. The PS Vita version will launch on the 20th of November while the iOS and Android versions will show themsevles on the 29th of November. North American PS Vita owners also get a special privilege if they’re subscribed to Playstation Plus. Click here to be taken straight to the gallery. The SEGA Model 2 collection features downloadable versions of Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, Sonic the Fighters and Cyber Troopers: Virtual On. The collection will be released for XBLA and PSN and is currently Japanese exclusive. The collection is due for release later this year.
