Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown Launches June 1st on PS4

Tuesday, May 25th, 2021

Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown has finally been officially announced. The definitive version of SEGA’s beloved fighter will hit Playstation 4 on June 1st, as a digital exclusive.

The trailer points to this being a collaboration between AM2 and RGG Studio. Whether it’ll come to any more platforms in the future remains to be seen; there have also been rumours swirling that the game will be part of next month’s Playstation Plus offerings, which would make sense given the release date.

Judgment Coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC via… Stadia, Launches April 23rd Worldwide

Monday, February 1st, 2021

SEGA’s detective-based Yakuza spinoff Judgment is making its way to modern platforms, with an upgraded release including all DLC content.

The game will now boast a 60fps framerate, which will represent a far cry from the somewhat iffy performance of the original PS4 release. In addition, there’ll be improved load times across the board.

There’s a catch though. While PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X owners get to sink their teeth into the remaster, sadly the PC version will be restricted to Google’s streaming platform Stadia for the time being. To make matters worse, SEGA has confirmed to RPG Site that there’s no plan for a conventional PC version, nor an upgrade path for owners of the PS4 version. It’s certainly a shame to see, as even back when the game launched, RGG Studio said they’d be interested in doing a PC conversion. In addition, if you need gaming accessories for your PS5, Xbox, or other gaming consoles, you might want to discover here for more gaming products and accessories on sale.

At any rate, there’s not long to wait; the remaster will launch on April 23rd, worldwide.

Yakuza Remastered Collection is Headed to PS4, Yakuza 3 Out Today Digitally

Tuesday, August 20th, 2019

A leak on the American Playstation Store has revealed the existence of a Yakuza Remastered Collection. This collection is the localised Western versions of the previously Japan-only PS4 versions of Yakuza 3, 4 and 5. The games are being released digitally first with a new localisation and all the content that was previously cut for the Western versions.

Yakuza 3 will release today with Yakuza 4 releasing on October 29th 2019 and Yakuza 5 will arrive on the 11th of February 2020. Once all 3 digital releases are available, a boxed collection of all 3 titles will be available as well. Pre-orders will supposedly arrive at some point today but at time of writing I can’t find any listings.

The boxed version comes with some really cool exclusives if you pre-order the day one edition. Yakuza 3 and 4 come on one disc with Yakuza 5 on a seperate disc. This is because it is also bundled with a PS3 style case for Yakuza 5 which infamously only got a digital release in PAL regions. Also included is a 2 disc digipack case which houses the entire collection.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 Hits PC on May 9th

Friday, April 12th, 2019

The Dragon of Dojima’s latest outing, Yakuza Kiwami 2, is coming to PC on May 9th.

The game is a remake of the original Yakuza 2, redone in Yakuza 6’s Dragon Engine. The move to PC means unlocked framerates and 4K resolutions, a considerable leap over the console version.

Pre-ordering the PC version nets you the Clan Creator Bundle, with rare leader cards and exclusive weapons, outfits and bonus items.

It’s great to see the Yakuza series continue to make it’s mark on PC, and there’s not long to wait either. The game is £24.99 on Steam.

The Next Yakuza Game to Get a PC Port is Yakuza Kiwami, Coming to Steam Feb 19th

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019

It would appear that SEGA’s PC port of Yakuza 0 has done well enough to justify porting another Yakuza title to the platform. This time it’s the remake of the original Yakuza game, Yakuza Kiwami.

Yakuza Kiwami was rebuilt from the ground up for PS4 and features an expanded take on the original game that references some of the revelations that took place in Yakuza 0. This PC port features additional support for 4K resolutions and uncapped framerates.

Pre-ordering the game now gives you a 10% discount, bringing the game down from £14.99 to £13.49. Yakuza Kiwami was developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios and this PC port launches on the 19th of February 2019.

Ports of Fighting Vipers and Motor Raid to Appear in Project Judge

Thursday, September 20th, 2018

Project Judge (also known as Judge Eyes in Japan) will feature some interesting SEGA arcade titles in its in-game arcades.

First up we have a fresh port of AM2’s 1995 fighting game Fighting Vipers, which has previously appeared on Saturn as well as receiving modern HD ports for Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012.

The more interesting announcement is that 1997’s Motor Raid is receiving a port. This futuristic, motorcycle racing game features combat similar to Road Rash and this port will be the first time it’s ever appeared on a home system. Interested in how this plays? Our buddies at Saturn Memories did a video on it a while back:

Project Judge will release as Judge Eyes in Japan on the 13th of December 2018 for PS4. It is an original title from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios set in the same world as the Yakuza franchise. A Western release is scheduled for sometime in 2019.

New Game from Yakuza Devs ‘Project Judge’ Announced

Tuesday, September 11th, 2018

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios have revealed their first non-Yakuza title since 2012’s Binary Domain and it takes the form of Project Judge. In Japan the game will be officially titled Judge Eyes, while Project Judge is currently the working title in Western territories. Project Judge features action similar to the over-the-top brawling of the Yakuza franchise, but with a heavier emphasis on detective work and investigation. It’s actually set in the same fictionalised world of Yakuza and the 2 trailers that accompany the game’s announcement showcase action taking place in Kamurocho:
