New Shenmue III Trailer Gives Us First Look At In-Game Action | Video Spotlight

Our first look at in-game Shenmue III is finally here, and it comes courtesy of the Magic event currently taking place in Monaco. Take a look at the embed below to see Ryo, Shenhua and Lan Di in action. We get our first look at some of the story fragments and fighting that features in the upcoming sequel:

Shenmue III is not being published by SEGA, but Deep Silver are taking over publishing duties. SEGA still holds the license to the Shenmue franchise. Yu Suzuki and his Ys Net studio are developing the game, and the title is due for release on the 27th of August 2019.

Sonic Mania Adventures Rides Again With Special Christmas Episode | Video Spotlight

The Sonic Mania Adventures series of short cartoons lead by Sonic Mania cut-scene lead Tyson Hesse has returned for a one-off Christmas special. Amy Rose makes her debut in the series with a rather amusing encounter with Metal Sonic. Check out the rather sweet little short by clicking the embed below:

Neo Hazard has also shared some additional footage that shows that the music changes at level 40. At level 40 a tune many will recognise as the Blue Sphere theme starts to play, meaning that its creation predates Sonic the Hedgehog 3 by 2 years.

It appears that a version of the unreleased SEGASonic Bros arcade puzzler has finally been dumped and compiled for use in a modified version of MAME. The ROM hasn’t been made available at this time, but we do have the first direct feed footage of the game running below, courtesy of Neo Hazard at Sonic Retro:

This version of MAME that has been modified to run SEGASonic Bros was developed by GerbilSoft. There is currently no word on if this emulator or the ROM will be made public.

New Footage of Team Sonic Racing’s Ice Mountain Track and Team Abilities | Video Spotlight

As previously reported, Team Sonic Racing will be on show at Gamescom from the 21st to the 25th of August 2018 and will feature a new Ice Mountain track to play on the show floor. A new trailer for the game has just gone live that features the first footage of the Ice Mountain track, but also goes in depth as to what abilities teams can use in the game. Check it out below:

Team Sonic Racing will release on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch this Winter 2018. The game is being developed by Sumo Digital and features new music from Jun Senoue and Crush 40.

First Footage of Unreleased SEGASonic Bros Arcade Game Emerges | Video Spotlight

As previously reported, the owner of what is thought to be the only SEGASonic Bros arcade board in existence has brought the game along to the California Extreme arcade expo. The game is open to play by all paying attendees and thanks to this, we now have the very first footage of the game in action. See below for 2 videos showcasing the game in action:

Entire Sonic the Hedgehog GDC Postmortem with Naoto Ohshima & Hirokazu Yasuhara Available to Watch Online | Video Spotlight

Naoto Ohshima and Hirokazu Yasuhara were recently guests at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco and they gave an hour long postmortem talk on Sonic the Hedgehog.

The entire talk is now available to watch online via the GDC Vault and it’s a fascinating watch that details the creation, design and art direction of the original game. It also features interesting anecdotes and first hand experiences from Ohshima and Yasuhara themselves.

Ben Huskins and Mark Webley from Two Point have revealed the first in-game footage of Two Point Hospital; the new hospital management sim from this new studio that features ex-Bullfrog staff – the developers of the original Theme Hospital. Two Point Hospital is due for release on PC later this year and will be the first title from the newly formed Two Point studio.

Create Your Own Clan in Yakuza 6 | Video Spotlight

Yakuza 6 will feature a new mini-game which allows players to create a clan by recruiting people Kiryu fights with. Once you’ve got a clan together, you can take them to the streets for huge strategic fights with hundreds of characters. The fights can even be taken online so you can challenge other custom clans. The lovely people over at ThrowBack Tokyo have recorded some extensive off-screen footage of House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn in action at the recent location test in Akihabara. As the footage shows, it’s very much the House of the Dead sequel we’ve all been waiting for, complete with campy voice acting and over-the-top, zombie-shooting action. Like The House of Dead 4, the violence has been toned down somewhat, with the zombies now burning away when they’re dispatched. However, the amount of on-screen zombies has been drastically increased. Click the embed below to see for yourself:
