Platinum Games are developing a new game for PS3 and 360 to be published by SEGA called Max Anarchy. The game is described as “massively multiplayer melee fighting action” with a large focus on online play.
Screenshots in Famitsu magazine show characters in battle with chainsaws and torches. Jack from MadWorld appears as a playable character but is rendered in full colour instead of black and white.
It is scheduled for a worldwide release in Autumn 2011. SEGA have promised more information on the game “later this week”.
Well this is a bit embaressing, but SEGADriven has suffered a rather severe database error. Dreadknux and Bman have been working very hard this evening trying to get SEGADriven back up and running but there’s a strong possibility that we may have lost a large amount of data.
If all goes well, Bman should be able to restore an old backup of the site and we’ll have it in a decent condition soon. Please be patient!
Big thanks to Dreadknux and Bman for sorting this issue out! I’d be well and truly knackered without them! Stay tuned to SEGADriven as we’ll be resuming normal operation next week!
Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5 Part 2 and SEGA Bass Fishing. How convenient? That’s the same 4 titles that have been or are being released on X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network!
The collection will be released in Europe on February 25th for X-Box 360, PS3 and PC. It will also be enhanced with achievements/trophies and online leaderboards.

SEGA’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Alan Pritchard has told Game Informer that a packaged Dreamcast collection is on its way ‘soon’. Pritchard’s full comment is as follows:
“The Dreamcast fans are very devoted. You see on eBay people are still buying the games and system. We actually have a Dreamcast collection coming out soon. We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged. The titles are still to be announced. The Ultimate Genesis Collection did huge numbers on PS3 and 360, so it’s an important part of our business. We’ve already been releasing some Dreamcast games digitally; Crazy Taxi [for one].”
Still no word on what systems it’s going to be released for or a solid release date yet. Spring 2011 is definately our bet. The original listing (which has since been pulled) on Gamestop listed PS3 and 360 as the collection’s platforms with a temporary release date as February 15th.

Yu Suzuki, the man behind such classic SEGA games like After Burner II, Outrun and Shenmue has been interviewed over at 1UP and it’s a fascinating read. My favourite bit? Why thanks for asking:
“Yu Suzuki: If Miyamoto was the father of gaming, I suppose that makes me the mother.
JM: [Laughs] I think Shigeru Miyamoto was probably more the mother. He’s the one finding inspiration from his garden. You were making the games about motorcycles and jets and punching and shooting people. So you’re the daddy.”

In a recent interview with games™, Yu Suzuki has let slip that there are plans to bring Shenmue City to Western shores:
“There are plans but I cannot discuss them now.”
Shenmue City is a mobile phone (and eventually PC) game that basically amounts to statistic managing. It’s the first new Shenmue game since the X-Box release of Shenmue 2 in 2002. The game is a side-story that takes place in the first chapter of the original Shenmue game. You take control of a student at the Hazuki dojo.

Toshihiro Nagoshi; the mastermind behind the Yakuza series has announced a new game for the Playstation 3 and X-Box 360 called Binary Domain.
The game is aimed at a global audience and takes place in Tokyo in the year 2080. The game is an online-based action title which sees players pilot robots from a third-person perspective.
There is currently no word on whether SEGA will publish the game or if it will make it to Western shores at this time. We’ll be keeping an eye on this one as it sounds a bit Virtual On-ish to me!
UPDATE ON 01/12/2010 SEGA of Europe and SEGA of America have confirmed they will be bringing Binary Domain to the West. There’s even a trailer featuring racial stereotypes:

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is the 2nd best selling game on the X-Box Live Arcade for October. The 1200 MS points-priced game sold 98,000 copies just behind Dead Rising 2: Case Zero at 104,000 priced at 400 points. However, this does mean that Sonic 4 was the most profitable XBLA game for October. Well done SEGA! It’s a much deserved win for you!

The game allows you to fight other dragons as well as “nurture and learn to communicate” with the dragon you ride. Sounds remarkably familiar doesn’t it?
No release window or even a publisher have been announced at this time so SEGA might not even be involved. Keep your eyes on this one!
