SEGA’s Hardlight Studio has revealed that Viking: Battle for Asgard is being released on Steam next week.
Viking was originally released for X-Box 360 and PS3 back in 2008 and developed by The Creative Assembly. The game has been ported by Hardlight Studio which is a newly SEGA aquired studio based in Solihull, West Midlands UK.
Hardlight are also working on a new version of Sonic Jump for mobile devices.
This whole Danica Patrick collaboration with Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is still very weird. If the appearance of Nascar driver Patrick alone wasn’t a bit bizarre then you’ll be even further confused to see the vehicle she’ll be driving.
In All-Stars Racing Transformed, Patrick will be driving a vehicle inspired by the Hot Wheels brand of model cars. An actual die-cast Hot Wheels model of the car will also be produced for general release during “the holiday season” (Christmas if you’re not American).
Archie Comics are finally releasing The Complete Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclopedia which acts as a comprehensive guide to the Sonic the Hedgehog Archie universe. This promises to be the most comprehensive guide to the Archie universe ever.
The 192 page, 6×9 paperback book will release in North America on October 30th with an RRP of $16.99.
IGN have some images from the book including the cover artwork that you can view by clicking here.
Archie comics are usually available in most good UK comic stores so make sure you keep an eye out for the book come October 30th.
How did I manage to miss this one!? A new game in the Zaxxon series has crept onto mobile devices! The game is called Zaxxon: Escape and unlike the orignal isometric shooter, this game is a third person, behind-the-ship affair (similar to After Burner) where you must tilt your device in order to squeeze through the openings. Check out the announcement trailer below:
The game is available to download now for iPhone, iPad and Google Play devices. A quick look on the iOS app store tells me the game is currently available for 69p in the UK.
A recent teaser trailer from SEGA is promising a re-release of Crazy Taxi for iOS. What’s interesting about the trailer is that it hints the original Offspring/Bad Religion soundtrack might be back. Take a look below:
Have SEGA finally managed to get the rights back for the original Crazy Taxi soundtrack? Only time will tell. The trailer mentions an October 2012 release so we shouldn’t be waiting too long!
The USK release schedule page appears to have just leaked announcements for Sonic the Fighters, Fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter 2 on X-Box Live Arcade.
All 3 games have received ratings on the site which could mean that HD remakes of these releases are planned for XBLA. There is currently no official word from SEGA but looking at their recent release habits with the likes of NiGHTS into dreams, Sonic Adventure 2 and Jet Set Radio all getting revived it could well become a reality.
Platinum Games; the famed developers of SEGA published games Bayonetta, MadWorld and Vanquish have now entered an exclusivity deal with Nintendo. This is why Bayonetta 2 is being released for the Wii-U with SEGA acting in an advisory role only.
Platinum Games have also revealed a 2nd Wii-U title called ‘The Wonderful 101’. You can watch the reveal trailer below:
Platinum Games have also spoke about how they regret not handling the PS3 version of Bayonetta themselves and how the negative feedback they received helped them learn to handle both 360 and PS3 versions of their games in-house.
SEGA have confirmed that Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure, the 3DS rhythm game in the vain of Space Channel 5 will be getting an iOS re-release at some point in the near future. The game will apparently be a free-to-play affair but you will have to dish out microtransactions for more content.
There is currently no word on an exact release date. More on this as we get it.
Hello everyone, Sonic Yoda here. A friend of mine suggested I keep you all in the know as to why the site has been quiet for such a long period of time and I thought that was quite a good idea!
So on the 28th of July I moved home and even though I’ve been in the new place for over a month me and my flat-mate are still sorting the last few things out. The main one is obviously the internet.
With any luck we should be live soon but there’s some strange fault with my line (apparently) so even though I should’ve gone live on Tuesday (4/9/12) I’m still having endless calls with my provider to get things sorted.
We have some cool content for you when we’re back though so don’t think we’ve been slacking. I have a feature video that includes all my favourite games from this year’s SAGE to still upload and then we’ll be doing another collaborative video with The Community Spotlight.
Once again, apologies for the long period of dead-time but hopefully we should be live and kicking again soon!
