Guest Review: SEGA Superstars Tennis

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

The lovely Helen Doherty has reviewed the X-Box 360 version of SEGA Superstars Tennis for SEGADriven. You can access the review by clicking this link.

Helen takes an interesting, retrospective approach with this review by comparing the game to Sumo Digital’s more recent Superstars entry, ‘Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing’. She also takes into account that the game can now be purchased for a very low, second-hand price (£3 from CEX!? Get involved!).

Massive thanks to Helen for reviewing this!

Fan Scene: Sonic 2K6 2D Final Version Released

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

4 years ago, BlazeHedgehog (infamous for his fan-game ‘Sonic: The Fated Hour’) was developing a 2D remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 06.

Why remake one of the worst Sonic games of all time? Blaze explains that he was disappointed by the game’s release as all the pre-release hype promised “a High-Def, Next-Generation return to the good parts of the original Sonic Adventure” which was obviously appealing to most Sonic fans at the time.

Unfortunately, all hope for the project was lost when Blaze encountered computer problems which meant he hasn’t been able to access the source material for 4 years.

Earlier this year Blaze finally managed to gain access to the source material and has to decided to polish up the game and release it as is (approximately 85% complete) as he doesn’t have the time to finish it completely.

Check out the below trailer to see what the final release includes:

You can download the game for free by following this link. It’s a frantic little affair that is tremendous fun to play and well worth your time. You can read more about the game by clicking here.

Video Spotlight: More Anarchy Reigns Gameplay

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Here we have 2 doses of new Anarchy Reigns gameplay footage to show off. First off we have Jack’s character trailer:

I’m really hoping the inclusion of Jack from MadWorld is an indication that we might see more SEGA cameos in Anarchy Reigns. How about Axel from Streets of Rage, eh Platinum?

Finally we have a whole heap of gameplay in the first trailer focussing on the entire game and not specific characters. Check it out:

Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles Ported to PC; Full Game Available for Free Download

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

The incredibly indie puzzler Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles has been ported to the PC and is now available to download for absolutely nothing. You can click this link to be taken to the developer’s blog where the game can be downloaded.

I’d recommend anyone with an interest in puzzle games to try out Wind and Water. Think Hexic (the puzzle game included on all X-Box 360s) with a story that parodies all your favourite games from yester-year. There’s also a plethora of different SEGA cameos with some fantastic remixes of classic SEGA tunes.

So what are you waiting for? Give Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles a try; you won’t regret it!

SEGA have confirmed SEGA Rally Online Arcade for release on Playstation Network and X-Box Live Arcade sometime in 2011. As we speculated, the game is an adapted version of SEGA Rally 3. This echoes the release of Outrun Online Arcade, hence the similar title. Here’s the full press release:

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (31st Jan 2010)— SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. announced today that SEGA Rally Online Arcade™, a new HD title inspired by SEGA Rally Revo™ and SEGA Rally 3™, will be racing onto PlayStation® Network and Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in 2011. SEGA’s arcade and console favourite will include a collection of new features, including the ability for gamers to race their friends online!

“We’ve blended our hit arcade racing series with the best elements from the console versions to bring our fans the SEGA Rally experience in compact, downloadable format,” said Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA. “Whether they’re new to the SEGA Rally series or they’ve participated in countless races over the years, we’re confident everyone will enjoy the wide variety of features included in this fan favourite.”

SEGA Rally Online Arcade™ brings back all the features players could want from the popular arcade and console racer, including Championship Battle mode and Time Attack, while adding an exciting online racing mode that lets players battle it out with up to five drivers around the world. What is SEGA Rally Online Arcade?

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Sony Computer Entertainment Korea has filed a listing on the Korean Game Rating Board for a game titled ‘SEGA Rally Online Arcade’. This went active on the 26th of January 2011. There is no further information beyond its’ ‘E for Everyone’ rating.

Could this be a port of SEGA Rally 3 for X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network? Only time will tell. I for one am looking forward to some more SEGA Rally action. 2007’s SEGA Rally Revo was an overlooked wonder.
