Starting tomorrow at 8pm UK time, we are hosting The Cyber Razor Cut on RadioSEGA. The show will feature an hour of SEGA-themed remixes and general nonsense and will continue every Wednesday at the same time.
A big thank you to both Foreversonic and KC for inviting me onto the good ship RadioSEGA and hopefully I can do them all proud and add another worthy show to their name!
OC Remix forum user Dusk has made an announcement regarding 3 new Streets of Rage remix albums. The albums are intended to be released a year apart and will cover each game in the original series.
Dusk is asking for volunteers to create the music for each album now as seen in this forum post: CLICK HERE
12 of the 14 tracks to be featured on the first album have been claimed with our friend DiGi Valentine from NightsintoDreams.com featuring on one track.
VizardJeffhog at The Sonic Stadium has orchestrated an enormous Sonic and SEGA music project called The Sonic Stadium Music Adventure 2012 which sees a huge amount (over 40) of different fan artists and musicians contribute to one of the biggest remix albums ever.
The collection spans 10 discs and 8 hours in length and it’s available to download now.
If anyone is interested, I am one half of the artist known as Two Worlds Unfold who contribute a rock cover of Lee Brotherton/Bentley Jones’ Dreams of an Absolution from the Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 soundtrack.
This Golden Axe remix by Viking Metal is just too cool not to share. The heavy metal reimagining of the first stage theme from Golden Axe is called They Call Me Axe Battler and it rocks like something made of rock. Check it out:
Another brilliant remix from OC Remix! This time The Cynic Project puts forward a beautifully ambient reworking of Green Hill Zone called Sonicquarium. Stick around because it steps up a notch around the half-way point:
Mega Drive heavy metal covers band MegaDriver have been uploading these cool little ‘Game Metal Play’ videos which feature a re-arranged version of a song featured on a specific SEGA game but actually inserted into the game. We featured the Outrun cover a little while ago but since then MegaDriver have released Streets of Rage and M.U.S.H.A. covers which sound brilliant. Check them out:
Want more? MegaDriver have also released a few new songs in the past couple of months including Golden Axe and Sonic songs. Click here to be taken to their song list on their official website.
The Road Rash games are some of the greatest arcade racers to ever grace the Mega Drive. The games also try their best to create heavy metal songs for the soundtrack using the limitations of the Mega Drive sound-chip. For instance, check out the United Kingdom theme from Road Rash 3:
Now for the interesting bit. A rather talented chap known as Ivan BeSpaleva has rearranged the United Kingdom theme as an actual heavy metal song which you can hear below:
There’s also another fantastic take on this track by TailOff which you can hear below:
Titanscreed returns for another edition of The Community Spotlight! This time Titanscreed chats to Vizard Jeffhog and Freqrexy who are organising the new Sonic Stadium remix album “The Sonic Stadium Music Adventure 2012”. Check it out below:
