The re-release of classic Mega Drive shmup Empire of Steel for 3DS is actually a proper remake and not just a simple port. Check out the fancy new graphics above.
The game is not being published by SEGA but it’s being developed by Starfish who are responsible for Elminage. The new version features improved graphics, stereoscopic 3D and rebalanced difficulty.
SEGA’s re-release of Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse has been formally announced and it’s a 2D/3D hybrid remake in HD! Check out the first screenshots below:
Also featured is the announcement trailer which you can also watch here:
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this Summer as a digital only title.
SEGA have uploaded the following teaser video which clearly hints at the heavily rumoured Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse re-release:
The trailer mentions a Summer 2013 release date but more interesting is that it uses all new assets like the previously leaked “box art”. Could this be a HD remake and not a simple re-release of the Mega Drive original?
A new version of the leaked Streets of Rage reimagining footage has been uploaded which now includes sound. The prototype footage features a playable game and is not pre-rendered.
Ruffian Games business and management chief Gary Liddon (who also uploaded this new video) has also revealed more about the game:
“It was something we built very rapidly and represents pre-pre-pre-pre (lots of pres) pre-Alpha quality. Even so it has a certain charm 🙂 What’s the story behind it all? Like a lot of developers we work on a lot of different prototypes, they’re just not usually shown in public. In this case an older version of the same video was leaked last week which came as a bit of a surprise if I’m honest. As it had no sound I thought there wouldn’t be any harm sharing a version with audio. Beyond that there’s not a lot more I can say unfortunately :)”
Sean Noonan has also chimed in to answer a question about why the game was cancelled. His response: “I don’t really have a solid answer to that :(”
Check out this stunning leaked footage of a proposed Streets of Rage “reimagining” that would have been developed by Ruffian Games. Am I gutted this got cancelled:
