SEGA’s Ben Harbone may have just let slip that Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia will be coming to download services. In an interview with Gamesreactor, Harbone said “Those are a couple of our most requested games. I can’t say ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ but we may be working on them.” My mind actually cannot fathom how awesome Shenmue in widescreen HD would be!
Is a rather unexpected turn of events, SEGA have announced their next Dreamcast title to be ported to X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network will be Jet Set Radio. Check out the teaser trailer below:
So why is this unexpected? Well up until this point SEGA have been porting Dreamcast games that were already ported to PC as it appears to be easier. However, Jet Set Radio was never ported to the PC so this means SEGA have either developed an emulator that can run Dreamcast games on PS3 and 360 or they’ve actually ported it from the ground up which might mean we get improvements and added features.
All of this can only be a positive thing because if SEGA are willing to go to that effort to port Jet Set Radio then we might see other much loved Dreamcast games come to the service soon. Can I get a “Shenmue”? Amen brother!
Under Defeat, the helicopter shoot-em-up originally released for Dreamcast, is getting a HD re-release on X-Box 360 and Playstation 3. No word as to whether this is a digital or physical release are available at this time.
The original developer G.Rev is working on the port and it’s expected to be released in Japan on the 19th of January 2012. There is currently no news of a Western release at this time.
The game was originally released in arcades in 2005 but saw its’ only home console port on Dreamcast in 2006.
Gun Lord, the new game being developed for Dreamcast by NG:DEV.TEAM now has a fully functioning website which you can access HERE.
From the site we’ve learned that the release date will be the 15th of January 2012 and the game will be available in both regular and special editions that contain the soundtrack on CD.
A new trailer has also been released which you can check out below:

DCEvolution have put together a page of Beats of Rage mods for the Dreamcast. Some are old and some are new. They all use the fantastic OpenBOR engine and generally offer some great beat-em-up action for Dreamcast owners needing to scratch that itch. There’s some wonderfully weird mods like an Ed, Edd & Eddy one, an Elfen Lied one and of course, a Kill Bill one!
So what are you waiting for? Click here to grab some great, free, beat-em-up action for your Dreamcast. Grab a copy of Discjuggler from here (to burn the game images) and some blank CDs and you’ll be on your way!
I’d recommend anyone with an interest in puzzle games to try out Wind and Water. Think Hexic (the puzzle game included on all X-Box 360s) with a story that parodies all your favourite games from yester-year. There’s also a plethora of different SEGA cameos with some fantastic remixes of classic SEGA tunes.
So what are you waiting for? Give Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles a try; you won’t regret it!
