Sonic Adventure 2 Coming to XBLA/PSN

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

Whoopsie! Someone at Xbox.com pressed the ‘ok’ button a bit too early and revealed 10 screenshots for Sonic Adventure 2 on X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network. SEGA haven’t officially announced the game but this entry on the site (which has now been removed) gives us all the proof we need.

The Playstation Network version is only confirmed because one of the screenshots shows the circle button on the dualshock controller which pretty much means a PSN port is obviously in the works.

The games also support a widescreen display. The usual achievements and trophies are expected. The release date listed on the website before it was taken down is October 3rd 2012.

DUX Sequel in the Works for Dreamcast; Kickstarter Campaign Started

Wednesday, May 9th, 2012

DUX, the 2D shoot-em-up released by Hucast on Dreamcast in 2009 is getting a sequel called Redux: Dark Matters and the developers have taken to Kickstarter in order to get the project the funding it needs.

The goal of the Kickstarter is to bring the game to XBLA, PSN and Steam through the sale of a limited edition Dreamcast version. This version will also come boxed with a new version of DUX called DUX 1.5 which features additional improvements over its’ original release.

Also being made available is a 4 disc boxset of the soundtrack featuring music composed by Andre Neumann and remixes by the legendary Chris Huelsbeck of Turrican fame.

The game will also be released on iOS/iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch in July this year. The Dreamcast release is scheduled for December while the release on Steam, XBLA and PSN is tentative as it all relies on the Kickstarter campaign.

Jet Set Radio Coming to XBLA and PSN

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Is a rather unexpected turn of events, SEGA have announced their next Dreamcast title to be ported to X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network will be Jet Set Radio. Check out the teaser trailer below:

So why is this unexpected? Well up until this point SEGA have been porting Dreamcast games that were already ported to PC as it appears to be easier. However, Jet Set Radio was never ported to the PC so this means SEGA have either developed an emulator that can run Dreamcast games on PS3 and 360 or they’ve actually ported it from the ground up which might mean we get improvements and added features.

All of this can only be a positive thing because if SEGA are willing to go to that effort to port Jet Set Radio then we might see other much loved Dreamcast games come to the service soon. Can I get a “Shenmue”? Amen brother!
