It appears that the Sonic LEGO Ideas Set from last year was quite the hit because LEGO have gone and announced a whole raft of new Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO play-sets.
The iconic Green Hill Zone loop is available as a play-set which includes a “speed sphere” that can house a Sonic mini-fig. The speed sphere is used in conjunction with a launcher to fire Sonic round the loop. Tails’s workshop, the Tornado and a matching Tails mini-fig are also available, alongside an Amy Rose mini-fig and an animal rescue island play-set. It appears we’re also being teased with the prospect of a Dr. Eggman play-set as well. Check out the reveal trailer by clicking the embed below:
There is currently no word on a release date or when the play-sets will be available for pre-order at the time of writing.

SEGASonic Cosmo Fighter is a 1993 Japanese arcade game for children that features a small, ride-in spaceship that houses a monitor and controls. In the game you must guide Sonic in his ship to defeat Dr. Robotnik and his army of robots and it plays more like a vertically-scrolling shoot-em-up than a traditional platformer. While an English version of the game was developed, it doesn’t appear to have made it to Western markets.
Twitter user ‘IAMAMAZING100‘ has now dumped the English version of the game and it’s available to download by clicking here. Unfortunately, the ROM is currently unplayable in MAME, but Twitter user FridayNehgGuy has ripped all the samples from the game so you can hear what Sonic and Dr. Robotnik sound like. Click here to hear that.
The Japanese version of SEGASonic Cosmo Fighter is playable in MAME and you can watch a full playthrough with fan-subs via the embed below:
The return of Sonic the Comic Con was previously revealed last month, but now you can actually purchase tickets for the UK-based event via their Kickstarter which is also how the event is securing its funding. Funding has already been achieved at the time of writing, but tickets are still available for another 30 days.
This special 30th anniversary edition of the convention is celebrating 30 years of the original comic and will feature guest appearances from original Sonic the Comic writers and artists like Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson, Lew Stringer, Carl Flint and Ferran Rodriguez. Also in attendance will be Dave Bulmer and Chris McFeely; the hosts of Sonic the Comic the Podcast.
While tickets can only be purchased from the Kickstarter, additional rewards in the form of prints, t-shirts and original art can also be pre-purchased from the Kickstarter.
Newly revealed at the WONDERFUL HOBBY LIFE FOR YOU!! 36 event, Good Smile Company have showcased a first look at their work-in-progress Tails Nendoroid figure. This will be the first Sonic the Hedgehog-themed Nendoroid figure released since the original Sonic the Hedgehog Nendoroid first hit shelves back in 2012. There is currently no set release date and Good Smile have said that the final figure is still waiting SEGA’s final approval.
In addition to the Tails Nendoroid news is the announcement that a Knuckles Nendoroid is on the way as well. There is currently no work-in-progress shot of the figure, but a promotional image does promise that more information is coming soon.
Nendoroids are detailed, super-deformed, licensed figurines manufactured by Good Smile Company in Japan. They normally come with multiple accessories and retail for around 5000 yen, approximately £31 in the current exchange rate.
