Steve Lycett from Sumo Digital has revealed that he has received approval from SEGA to include a “specific character” in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
No information regarding what character it is has been revealed at this time. Presumably, the character will be released as DLC for the game at some point in the near future.

The new characters are a manager from Football Manager, a Shogun from Total War: Shogun and a trio of characters from Team Fortress 2; 1 for each transformation (Heavy for boat, Pyro for car and Spy for plane).

“Have you ever bought a game you were really excited about only to be disappointed? I’m sure we all have. Have you ever tried to convince yourself that said game is actually better than you think it is? Perhaps. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (now known as SASRT from here on) fits into both categories.”
After only a few hours the game has been removed from PSN. It will now go live on December 7th along with the physical release.
ORIGINAL STORY
The PS Vita version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has just been launched on the PSN store. The game is available to purchase and download for £34.99 in the UK. A physical release is expected on Friday. The product listing reveals the following features:
– Ad Hoc Mode 2-8 Players
– Network Players 2-8
– Network Features
– 2048KB minimum
– Touchscreen
– Dual Analog Sticks
– Motion Sensor
There’s no word at this time what the motion sensor and touchscreen are used for but I’m guessing the motion sensor is used as an alternative control scheme (tilt to steer).
Steve Lycett from Sumo Digital has confirmed a delay on the 3DS, PS Vita and PC versions of Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed. SEGA had originally slated the release for November 16th but Lycett has said:
“Given we’re still working on it, 16th November UK release is unlikely. I think SEGA either have or are due to announce the handheld dates over here, they’re slightly later than the home console versions.”
So sad times if you wanted to get those versions on November 16th. More on this story when SEGA decide to announce the corrected dates.
The Sonic Show have got their hands on some gameplay footage of the 3DS version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. It’s a bit short but at least we now know what the game is going to look like when the portable version finally rolls out:
