A new teaser video from IGN showcasing some in-game action from Sonic Frontiers has arrived. Click the embed below to see Sonic running around some beautiful, grassy vistas while battling some strange new enemies:
Sonic Frontiers appears to introduce a new laser-grapple mechanic that requires you to run rings around your enemies and launch them into the air. Combat seems to be similar to the homing attack-and-melee attacking style of Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic 06. There is also a new glowing ring item that Sonic can run in hamster wheel-style that appears to initiate a scan of the surrounding area. Boosting and grinding also make a reappearance.
Sonic Frontiers will be the first open world Sonic title and is being developed in house by SEGA’s own Sonic Team. The game will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC in “Holiday 2022”.
As the release of Sonic Frontiers approaches, fans can’t wait to get their hands on the game and explore the open world with the iconic blue hedgehog. Pre-orders are already available on various platforms, and gamers can also check out http://coinlooting.com/ for exclusive deals and discounts on the game. Fresh off the back of the recent artwork leak and ratings from South Korea, SEGA have officially dropped the first trailer for Sonic Origins and revealed a whole host of information for the upcoming retro Sonic compilation.
Sonic Origins will feature the Taxman versions of Sonic 1, CD and 2 alongside a brand new port of Sonic 3 & Knuckles developed by Headcannon who previously assisted with the Taxman ports as well as Sonic Mania. The games can be played in their remastered anniversary editions in full widescreen, or in their classic 4:3 aspect ratio versions. The game will also feature a mission mode which tasks players with completing new custom stages that earn them tokens to be spent on in-game unlockables in the game’s virtual museum.
The games will also be available to play as one big title that combines all four titles. The games will also feature new animated opening and ending sequences from SEGA in collaboration with Powerhouse Animation.
Sadly the game is currently a digital only release. What’s more confusing is the 5 different editions the game is being sold in; each with their own exclusive content like a mirror mode, hard missions, additional character animations and additional music tracks. You can see the breakdown of each edition in the graphic below. Thankfully there is only a £4 difference between the base game and the ‘digital deluxe edition’, with the base game priced at £32.99 and the digital deluxe edition priced at £36.98.
Sonic Origins will release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch on June 23rd 2022.

ININ have revealed they will be publishing a Wonder Boy Collection for PS4 and Switch. The announcement trailer features the Master System versions of Wonder Boy and Wonder Boy in Monster Land, alongside the Mega Drive versions of Wonder Boy in Monster World and Monster World IV.
Development duties on the collection is being handled by BlissBrain. What’s strange is that the information on the BlissBrain site and ININ site actually pictures the arcade versions of Wonder Boy and Wonder Boy in Monster Land, so it is currently not clear if the collection features the Master System versions, the arcade versions or both.
The Wonder Boy Collection will be published digitally by BlissBrain and ININ and physically by Strictly Limited Games. Pre-orders for the collection from Strictly Limited games will go live “soon”. There is currently no word on a firm release date for the collection. All titles in the collection are officially under license from SEGA.
