A new trailer has been revealed for Japan exclusive PS Vita rhythm game Song Builder 575. Song Builder 575 has music powered by the Vocaloid music software and the trick with this title is to fill in the empty lines with lyrics while also tapping the screen in time with the songs. Check out the new trailer below:
Song Builder 575 is due to release in Japan on the 23rd of January 2014.
SEGA Japan have released a Puyo Puyo RPG for android smartphones called Puyo Puyo Quest. The game is exclusive to Japan but you can see it in action below:
Hero Bank is the latest Japan exclusive 3DS RPG from SEGA. Toshihiro Nagoshi is producing the title and the first trailer for the game is available to watch below:
Those (un)lucky Japanese! Shadow the Hedgehog has been re-released on the Japanese PSN store. The game is a part of the PS2 Classics range and can be purchased for 1200 yen (about £8).
Shadow the Hedgehog is the notoriously ill-advised Shadow-centric action platformer which allows you to pick up and use enemy weapons like swords and most controversially, guns.
The PS2 version of the game suffers from a wildly fluctuating framerate that makes the game a chore to play. If you’re that desperate to play the game I would advise the superior Gamecube version.
SEGA of Japan have announced a new 3DS RPG called Hero Bank. The game’s premise is to make as much money as possible in a cyber sport called Hero Battle.
The game is released in Japan on December 19th and no Western version has been announced at this time. Check out the first screenshots below:
SEGA are publishing the new Guilty Gear game. The game is titled Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign and is the first in the series to use the Unreal Engine as well as polygonal graphics instead of sprites. Check out the rather stunning announcement trailer below:
Arc System Works fighters generally launch in the arcade before they receive a home console release so as a system wasn’t announced in the trailer we can assume this is arcade exclusive for the time being.
News has broken that SEGA will re-release Sonic the Hedgehog on the 3DS eShop with added 3D support to show depth in the backgrounds. This news follows the release of 3D Space Harrier and 3D Super Hang-On, all of which are still Japan exclusive.
The re-release will launch on May 15th to mark the 25th anniversary of the Mega Drive in Japan and it will be priced 600 yen. Additional features include the already mentioned 3D effect, all the bug fixes and added details from the later revisions of Sonic 1 (rippling water, scrolling clouds), the addition of the spin attack, a classic view mode which simulates a CRT monitor and an option to choose a Mega Drive model 1 or 2 sound balance.
This re-release is unrelated to Christian Whitehead and Stealth’s port of Sonic the Hedgehog which runs using Whitehead’s custom Retro Engine and supports a widescreen display.
Take a look at some screenshots below:
No word on whether this version will make it to the West at this time.
