Review: Vanquish for PS3

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Platinum Games’ final SEGA game with their current contract is here and we’ve got the review! Click here to be taken straight to it.

Is it another Bayonetta-style, action masterpiece? Is it as complex as Infinite Space? Is it as all-out violent as MadWorld? I’ll give you a clue; it’s good. Damn good.

Check the review now to find out exactly what you’re missing!

Free Valkyria Chronicles Theme on Playstation Network

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

There’s a rather lovely Valkyria Chronicles theme now available on the Playstation Network. This is a bit of a strange move seeing as the game was released 2 years ago, but cool none-the-less. It’s also free, so you shouldn’t miss an opportunity to flaunt a great game on your PS3!

Video Spotlight: Yuji Naka Developer Session from Eurogamer Expo 2010

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

The following video is only remotely related to SEGA but should be of interest to most of us here. Clicking here will take you to a video of Yuji Naka’s developer session at the Eurogamer Expo 2010. The session was mainly a promotional tool for Naka’s upcoming game Ivy the Kiwi? (which SEGA is not publishing). But why would that stop you from watching a SEGA legend chat about his career? The video is a little on the long-side but it’s a very interesting piece and it’s not often a Japanese developer like Naka gets to speak with a Western audience.

SEGA Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5 Part 2 Confirmed for PSN and XBLA

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

SEGA will be releasing high definition ports of Dreamcast titles SEGA Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5 Part 2 on X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network in early 2010.

“The release of these games marks SEGA’s ongoing effort to bring its best-sellers from the Dreamcast era to the latest consoles,” said Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA.

“We want to enable a new generation of players to experience some of the most celebrated titles our video game history has to offer, while at the same time appealing to our enthusiastic and much appreciated community of fans.”

Personally, I’m really happy to see Space Channel 5 making some sort of a comeback. Maybe they should add Move and Kinect support to keep things fresh and on the same level as similar games like Just Dance. Only time will tell.

Video Spotlight: Yakuza of the End Trailer

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Is SEGA back on form or what!? Check out this mental 8 minute trailer of the next Yakuza game; Yakuza of the End. If us Westerners don’t get an opportunity to play this in our region we’re going to be missing one of the craziest games ever released.

It appears that a post-apocalyptic Kamurocho is now overrun with zombies and it’s up to Kazuma and friends to take on the hoards of nasties. Whoever had the idea to mix the Yakuza series with Left4Dead is an absolute genius because this looks like ridiculous fun:

It’s the dancing that gets us.
