Super Fighter Team are repressing 2 of their modern Mega Drive classics. Legend of Wukong and Star Odyssey will be re-pressed for another short run and both will be released in 2017.
These 2 RPGs were originally released in 2008 and 2011 and have become incredibly sought-after. Both titles were originally released in Taiwan and Japan. Super Fighter Team’s releases mark the first time the games were released in English.
Sports Interactive are reviving the short-lived NHL Eastside Hockey Manager series. What’s more surprising is the game returns to Steam tonight at 6pm GMT as an early access title.
The Eastside Hockey Manager series was canned in 2007 due to rampant piracy killing any revenue the series was making. 3 games were made between 2004 and 2007.
No pricing has currently been announced for the new title but Sports Interactive’s Miles Jacobson has promised it will be priced “cheaper than our games normally are”.
Hear that? That’s the sound of me weeping into a pillow at the thought of Japanese 3DS owners being able to purchase this incredible new theme based on the Dreamcast (as well as many other retro SEGA consoles). Check out video of the theme in action and marvel at the attention to detail (VMU and disc drive sounds!):
The current range of SEGA console themes for 3DS are sadly exclusive to Japan at the moment. Fingers crossed they eventually make it West.
SEGA Japan and Compile Heart have revealed Neptunia vs. SEGA Hard Girls; a new crossover game for the PS Vita.
If you are unfamiliar with the 2 titles, Hyperdimension Neptunia is an action RPG which features a fantasy world themed around video game consoles. The game takes its moniker from the cancelled SEGA Neptune console and various SEGA characters cameo in the series. SEGA Hard Girls is a short animated series based around SEGA’s various game franchises and features characters who are based on SEGA consoles so it’s a pretty good fit for the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia.
There is currently no screenshots or footage available for Neptunia vs. SEGA Hard Girls but we’re expecting it to be an action RPG in a similar style as Hyperdimension Neptunia. More details as we get them.
SEGA Japan have revealed a new strategy RPG called Stella Glow and it’s being developed by Imageepoch for the 3DS. Imageepoch have worked with SEGA on RPGs in the past as they were responsible for Sands of Destruction and 7th Dragon on the DS.
You can check out the first trailer for the game below:
Stella Glow is released in Japan on the 4th of June. There is currently no word on a Western release.
SEGA will publish a new 2D action platformer developed by Game Freak called Tembo the Badass Elephant. As Tembo you must battle the evil PHANTOM army from taking over Shell City. Check out the announcement trailer below; it’s all kinds of fun:
Tembo the Badass Elephant will launch this summer on PC, PS4 and Xbox One as a digital-only title.
Sumo Digital have put together a gallery of unused concepts for the original Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing.
As you can see above, Gillius was due to appear in the first game riding the Chicken Leg creature from the first Golden Axe. Sonic is also seen running around without a vehicle and Tails can also be seen a biplane similar to the original red Tornado design.
So things have taken a turn for the worse for all the websites hosted on The Sonic Stadium network. The hard drive for the server that the TSS network is hosted on basically decided to die on us. What’s made this problem worse is that the website backups haven’t been created since Christmas 2013 due to a different issue. Always the way, isn’t it? This means the version of SEGADriven you are currently looking at is essentially 15 months old.
I am working to source a lot of the work I’ve done since the end of 2013 through the Internet Archive and my own personal files, but I’m still going to have to rebuild a lot of the missing content. Work on restoring all the lost content will continue for a while but rest assured I haven’t given up (yet).
Please bare with me while the website is in recovery status. Normal service will resume before you know it.
Watermelon Games will publish a new Mega Drive game called Sacred Line Genesis.
The new game is a visual novel/horror title developed by Sasha Darko. It is currently available to pre-order via the official website for $39. There is no release date at this moment in time.
Platinum Games have released a free, 16 bit-esque Bayonetta browser game called Angel Land.
Artwork from Angel Land previously appeared in an April Fools video Platinum Games released in 2010. You can play the game by clicking here. You can also watch the original video the game is based on below:
