Sonic Prime Returns July 13th 2023, New Trailer Showcased

Sonic Prime returns to Netflix with new episodes on July 13th 2023. Co-producers Wildbrain previously announced that the show will run for 24 episodes and currently only 8 have aired, debuting back in December 2022. Netflix have not revealed how many episodes will drop on July 13th, but I think it’s safe to assume it will be another 8.

Sonic Prime sees Sonic and the gang flung across multiple dimensions when Sonic shatters the Paradox Prism. It’s up to Sonic and company to restore the prism to seal the rift between dimensions and make their way home. Sonic is voiced by Deven Mack.

Jet Set Radio Characters Coming to Roller Champions as DLC

Jet Set Radio is back! Kind of. Beat and Gum from Jet Set Radio are coming to Ubisoft’s 3v3 competitive sports game Roller Champions as downloadable content. A new Tokyo-To themed skate park is also being added. Check it out below:

The Jet Set Radio DLC for Roller Champions launches on June 27th 2023. Roller Champions is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch as a free-to-play online sports game.

Atlus Reveal Brand New RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio, Coming in 2024

Atlus return with a brand new RPG franchise called Metaphor: ReFantazio. This stylish new RPG from the developers of Catherine: Full Body is in development exclusively for Microsoft platforms and is due to release at some point in 2024. Metaphor: ReFantazio is being developed by Studio Zero and is their first new game since Catherine: Full Body which released in 2019. Metaphor: ReFantazio will release on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Game Pass service.

Persona Strategy Spin-Off ‘Persona 5 Tactica’ Announced, Releasing 17th November 2023

A new strategy spin-off to Persona 5 is coming exclusively to Microsoft platforms in the form of Persona 5 Tactica. This new entry in the series takes the form of a turn-based strategy game in a similar guise as Final Fantasy Tactics or XCOM: Enemy Unknown. You can see the first in-game action via the trailer below:

Persona 5 Tactica will launch on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Game Pass service on November 17th 2023.

Next Mainline Like a Dragon is Called Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Coming Early 2024

UPDATE

GamesRadar have confirmed that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the rebranded Like a Dragon 8 that was previously revealed back in September 2022. This also means the game is likely going to be launching on PS4 and PS5 in addition to PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

The next chapter in Ichiban’s journey through the Like a Dragon franchise is coming to Microsoft platforms in early 2024. This new entry in the series sees Ichiban wake up naked on a beach in North America. You’ve got to see it to believe it:

It is unclear at the time of writing if Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a rebranding of the previously announced Like a Dragon 8 or a new entry in the franchise. It is also unclear if this entry is Microsoft exclusive or if it will be coming to other platforms.

Persona 3 Remaster ‘Persona 3 Reload’ Revealed, Coming Early 2024

Atlus have revealed a new remaster of Persona 3 called Persona 3 Reload that will be coming exclusively to Microsoft platforms in early 2024. This includes Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will also be available via the Microsoft Game Pass service. You can check out the first trailer below:

Persona 3 is an RPG/social sim spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise that originally launched in 2006 on PS2. It was later brought to PSP in 2009.

New 2D Sonic Game Sonic Superstars Revealed, Releasing Autumn 2023

A brand new 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game is coming this Autumn 2023 and it’s called Sonic Superstars. Featuring co-operative gameplay, this new 2D take on the classic Sonic formula features Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy as playable characters. Dr. Eggman returns as the main antagonist but he’s bringing a returning Fang the Sniper with him. Check out the reveal trailer below:

Sonic Superstars launches on PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in Autumn 2023. Naoto Oshima returns to the Sonic franchise to lend his talents to the design of a brand new character who has not been revealed at this time. The game will be available digitally and boxed.

Total War: Pharaoh Announced – Releasing October 2023

The Creative Assembly have unveiled the latest entry in the Total War franchise with Total War: Pharaoh which launches in October 2023. As you can imagine with a title like that, the action takes place in ancient Egypt. You can check out the pre-rendered reveal trailer below:

Total War: Pharaoh will be the 16th mainline entry in the Total War series. The game is available to pre-order now and will be available on the Steam and Epic Games Store platforms for PC. There are 3 editions available offering various additional content packs and also a digital soundtrack download.

SEGA Confirms Acquisition of Angry Birds Developer Rovio

SEGA have finalised their deal to acquire Rovio Entertainment for €706 million. This includes the Angry Birds franchise which is owned solely by the Finnish developer.

Rovio Entertainment are one of the biggest names in mobile gaming, posting an earnings total of €306.7 million for the 2022 financial year. The takeover deal by SEGA is due to be finalised around September 2023. Both companies are looking to benefit from each other, with SEGA looking to expand its mobile gaming business and Rovio looking to expand into console gaming.

SEGA have had huge success in the mobile gaming space, opening their own dedicated mobile gaming development studio SEGA Hardlight in January 2012. SEGA have famously supported the iOS app store since its launch in 2008 with the release of Super Monkey Ball. They have also supported the Apple Arcade service since its launch in 2019 with the release of Sonic Racing and ChuChu Rocket! Universe.

Limited Run Games Producing GBA Video Version of Night Trap

Limited Run Games are pressing a Game Boy Advance Video version of Night Trap. The game is not playable with its original mechanics, but all the video files from the original release will be viewable in this GBA Video version.

Night Trap is a notorious FMV title first released on the Mega CD in 1992. You must use a surveillance system in order to trap the invading “augers” from attacking and sucking the blood from the various inhabitants of the homestead.

The pre-order is only open for the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of April 2023, so if you’re interested in owning an entirely passive version of Night Trap for the GBA then get your orders in before 11:59pm eastern time.
